@@theverminator4219 and every fucking superhero has had dark times similar to Hank that they got out of just fine. When Spiderman or Reed Richards beat their significant others, nobody gave a shit. Hanks split personality does it and now it's in every issue of Ultimate Comics, he's a piece of shit, he could never be redeemed, and his sales never go back up, despite the fact that in my opinion, he's one of the most interesting characters in comics, and he's paid his dues back in full 1000 times over. Plus, his mental struggles and suicide attempts and how he pulled himself out of it should be inspiring as hell, yet he's still somehow looked down on. Why? Is that part of the heroes journey? Being "perfect" from the get go and never going through some real life shit? Because Tony was a piece of shit all the way up to still now, Banner is cool, but kills 100 people every 3 or 4 days, Hawkeye acts like he's hot shit, yet he could be easily gunned down by a basic thug or Bullseye with a deck of cards. And how many people has Red Hood killed? Doctor Doom? Namor? Magneto? Punisher? Wolverine? Yet they're celebrated because they are 'complex' 'antiheroes'.

@@thes-10rooster45 I couldn’t have put it into words better than that, people worship those characters despite them being 20x worse than hank, why? Cause domestic abuse is too real? Well so are tragedies, maybe not on hulk scales but every single year groups of people die then get memory holed the same way they do to the people that hulk kills, but it must be cause it’s on such a personal level as domestic abuse, it’s easy for people to just forget about all those faceless people, just names and numbers to them, it’s total hypocrisy
@thes-10rooster45 Жыл бұрын
@@theverminator4219 Yeah. Hulk: Return of the Monster by Bruce Jones and Brian Azzarello starts with him, in a rampage, killing a 4 year old girl and going on the run. And even though Banner shows remorse for it, he completely forgets about it by the end of the story. Excused. Forgiven. And I don't want to bitch about this forever, because I could (and have) go on for days complaining about modern superheroes and how they have little to no character development that matters, and the ones that are rough around the edges and become genuinely great people and tell amazing stories to people who are struggling, get pushed aside in favor of the guy who is nice. The guy who could be on a poster, a billboard. But I was reading the AntMan (Eric O'Grady) and the Wasp (Hank Pym), and it was so compelling watching Hank make amends for all his demons, devoting his money to trying to make a difference and allowing women to escape abusive relationships by building shelters, as well as making sure that Bill Foster could be at peace in the simulated afterlife that Hank built for him, as well as giving Eric the chance to redeem himself for his atrocities. But the issue with the book for many folk (and one of the only issues) is that the villain isn't Kang or Thanos or Iron Man, so nobody read it. But obviously the external battle is not what the book is trying to focus on. That's why they chose a no name villain. And it's sorta the same with Scott Lang and Hank's battle against the Egghead and Raz Mhaltora. The battle was not the focus, it was Hank finally showing that he was over all of his self esteem issues that he's displayed since Avengers Issue 1, and had no further need for constant reassurance like he used to, and showing that he died, but was no longer his primary tornentor as he was before. He had forgiven himself, same as Jan had years before.

Let's not forget that in Hank Pym's first few appearances he performed ridiculous feats like defeating an ant with Judo and bench-pressing another. Those who have been a long time collector & reader of comics like myself know that Ant-Man is definitely not a joke. One thing I really hope the MC does maybe in a future phase is that they give Hank Pym a prequel movie/D+ series. Antman has always been one of my favourite Marvel heroes, and the fact that Marvel decided to not have him in his prime and interacting with people like Tony Stark or Bruce Banner really bugged me (no pun intended). I really hope that if they do a Hank Pym prequel, we could potentially see him starting off as Antman, see the early stages of his relationship with Janet, maybe Hank grieving over Maria, maybe Antman and the Wasp fighting Whirlwind (especially since Disney acquired the rights to Fox), and especially since the MCU is dealing with more serious themes where they could tackle Hank's mental health. If this could be done, it would make the Hank Pym fanboy in me scream with delight!!!!!

It’s years later after most of the old members have retired and the ultimate evolved version of Ultron, Ultron 500, murders the current team to draw out Hank Pym so he can essentially take revenge against Hank for creating him. Hank recruits who he can to assist including a Reed Richards whose body is finally falling apart and the daughter of She Hulk and Wyatt Wingfoot among others. Oh, Wanda and Vision’s children are the new sorcerer supreme and Grim Reaper too.

But then he repeated the process on multiple worlds joining forces with the black order) Wanda (all the disassembled and house of m events, not to mention to restore all the mutants who lost their powers because of her tried to join forces with Dr doom) Cap marvel (civil war 2, where she used an inhuman kid who just found out about his powers to arrest people even before they committed crimes, she even terrorized an innocent woman so much that she became a villain because of her)

People don't understand that Hank suffers from mental issues, much like Tony also does with his alcoholism, but Hank's are much worse due to Pym particles. Shrinking and enlarging yourself will destroy your brain, which is why later incarnations got better versions of the suit, where they don't get affected by the physical effects of the process, which was only possible because Hank had to endure and find out by himself. It's a shame the character gets put away for something that wasn't even his fault, specially in modern age when a theme such as domestic violence should be analyzed in order to avoid it instead of sweeping it under the rug. People often times forget everyone has flaws, always so quick to judge and punish without further understanding. I'm not saying Hank was right or that he was a victim, but to just dismiss everything he went through to reach that point is just plain ignorance and that mindset only contributes for more of the same happening.
