Great video! I have a few follow-up questions. 1. Do we still have to calculate optimal values for sigma, sigma2 and K? 2. Maybe it’s because this example is too simple, but I don’t see the advantage of introducing q(z) and calculating the ELBO. Why can’t we just apply Jensen’s inequality directly to log(integral p(x, z) dx) instead of log(integral p(x, z)/q(z) * q(z)dz? Wouldn’t the former also allow us to put the log inside the integral in order to break it up into a sum of simpler integrals as well?
