Well, what are varicose veins? Medically they are abnormally large, they are wider and bigger than they should be and they have a condition in them called reflux. What causes varicose veins? Well, top of the list is heredity. What causes thread veins? Well, I've already mentioned that reflux is the underlying problem so it's not a surprise really, is it, that top of the list is heredity. So what problems can arise? The majority of people with even quite severe varicose veins do not come to any harm and I think this is the main reason why the NHS doesn't treat veins. They do, however, cause a lot of ache, a lot of itch, swelling, these symptoms do tend to be worse in hot weather. They tend to be worse at the end of the day and they are also very unsightly. They can also cause phlebitis, varicose eczema, DVT and leg ulcers. In this video, Dr Gajraj discusses the causes of varicose veins and thread veins (spider veins) in detail. Mine started after severe swelling due to preeclampsia/eclampsia during my second pregnancy. I hate it so much. Even after my first pregnancy I had no issues with my legs. They are so unsightly and make me so self conscious, I don’t even wear shorts or dresses anymore. I can’t wait to get mine done.

Hello, Ray from Cali USA. I was born with varicose veins in my right arm. They are very large and go from my hand up into my shoulder. I also have T.O.S. on both sides. I have only met one Doctor who have actually treated this problem. He was the head professor of surgery at UCLA.

I am 36 years old and within the past 2 years a few spots of spider veins on both legs have become very prominent. My left leg is painful up to my hip and I had an EMG but the Dr said my nerves are ok. I have been self employed w/an auto shop for the past 10 yrs. I lift things I probably shouldn't and that's maybe what is putting pressure on the veins also? I am mostly scared of blood clots or DVT. I'm not ready to die! So .. lose weight and exercise is best option?

I was taken sick at work with a burst vein on the sat 21 April with a burst vein I have not seen any vascularCons or any hospital Doctor at Southport hospital or Aintree Hospital my GPS are rubbish at giving you a referral to see a vascular Consultant the only person I have seen is a nurse practitioner at Aintree Hospital to be told if I wanted to see a vascular Consultant I would have to pay because a burst vein is not taken seriously. If I wanted to see a vascular Consultant I would have to pay for this treatment at Aintree Hospital as Aintree Hospital no longer does NHS treatment for veins that have burst.

thanks,,but anyway just wondering if this only the first time you hear this kind of matter co'z its really bothering me i feel nothing from the time that happens just saw that the blood from the vein is continue spilling almost a cup of blood is wasting and a few minutes when i put my legs lay on my bed it was stop and up to now it was almost 3 days past i just saw a little tiny hole covered with dry blood on top so just worried if this dry blood accidentally remove it may be open and spill my blood again any first aid you can suggest pls. help me with this kind of matter...
