Really works! I unlocked my device the same way but now is 180 days instead of 90. I did not know the app was on the phone till I visited metro's website and I am using my phone in El Salvador :)

PLUS, they charge a MANDATORY $3 "Convenience" fee to TAKE MY MONEY at the store!! I hate them!! BUT I've only had them 60 days😭 Do they ever make exceptions to the 90 day rule?

Kno it's old but I just wanted to say: 1 month of service, Moto e4, didn't reup service after 1st month, hit unlock device 3 months later (Oct 17 - Jan 18) device unlocked... Jus sayn, check ur phones after 90 days whether u have service or not P.s. cousins phone did da same, he went 2 jail & got out 6 months later after 1 month of service (week technically lol got locked up fast) tapped device unlock...

Edit: if you can't find the app go to settings->connections->more connection settings->networok unlock->permanent unlock. Metro requires 180 days on service. Best to unlock before you leave. I went to a store and they didnt know either. Could not reach them on the phone after port. Old: I cant find the app on my metro phone. How do we get it? Didn't see it on playstore

Had this phone since November tried this method, but it wouldn't work! My sister called in March, the lafy said wait until about the 22nd of that month. Well, when that time came around, it still didn't work, kept saying 'server isn't responding please try again later'! Now, here it is, April--tried thus method again, and it STILL won't work!! I called customer service before, and all I heard was the automated service--no one would answer the phone!! The whole darn thing just do NOT make any sense!!

I want to buy a LG Stylo 2 Plus and use it as a phablet off my wifi router. Only Metro PCS sells them right now but their service is marginal to non existent where I live. I don't want to pay for 3 months of service that I can't use. All I need for a cell phone is a Tracphone with voice service which I already have. The Metro salesperson told me I could port over my old phone number for wifi only VoIP telephone service. Then I'll jailbreak the device and get a simple TracPhone no contract plan or get their plan on my old flip phone. At least they have service out here in the country where Metro doesn't. It's "Metro"PCS not BoondocksPCS. So many choices it makes my head spin but the LG Stylo 2 Plus is comparable to smartphones costing twice as much.

I am trying to unlock my Alcatel fierce xl from Metro PCS for use with family mobile and the app on my phone wouldn't work. I just called metro to see if they could unlock it for me but since I no longer have a working nmbr through them they said that they can't access my account and to call T-Mobile. I detest MetroPcs!! Everytime you need customer service help, you are brought to MyMetro which is totally useless for unlocking your phone. The app mentioned here is not on my phone nor can I get the app. In the few times I was able to get a 'live' person on the phone to follow their directions those directions never worked. In desperation, I may take a new number from a new provider for my new phone and just drop Metro in disgust. Their customer service is very frustrating and their tech support, when you can get a live person, are unable to unlock your phone because the steps they give you to do so do not appear on the phone as they believe they do. This has been the case with several techies I spoke with. Even Metro's tech support is not of good quality.
