It is SO cool to see him appreciate the Green Goblin role and what it means to fans. Some actors are happy to take superhero movie money but don't appreciate the art or can't speak on it. You can tell he approaches every role with love and care
@MrMallard19Ай бұрын
I think there's a GQ video where he goes through a bunch of his old roles, and there's a story where he was approached to do Spider-Man and everyone around him was telling him not to do it. It's a fair enough call given the reputation that superhero movies had at the time, but he was interested in the role and a part of the character was this Jekyll/Hyde dichotomy - like he says in this video, Sam Raimi got him to read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde as a part of the role. He's the exact kind of actor who should be in movies, because he seems to take roles that appeal to him and he takes pieces of those experiences out of the work with him. It's a cornball blockbuster movie, but Norman Osborne plays this sort of double role where there's a tortured inner soul and a malevolent entity that has him in its grasp, and he plays both aspects of the role completely straight. That's what drew him in - that's the crux of the character, not the costume or the setting. I feel like he saw the role for what it was, while the people around him saw it as Silly Comic Book Man in a rapidly dying genre of blockbuster moviemaking. And I think that's what the difference in all this is.

The end of the dream was where I was brought to the office of bad guy (Dafoe), a business mogul, but the me in the dream was very scared. He sat behind a desk with an inhaler in front of him. He was telling me that he asked me to come in so that he could discuss my behaviour. Someone out of sight on my right whispered "Does he need the inhaler to be fast?" I whispered back "No, but he does it anyway". Dafoe's stops talking and freezes for a second, then he slowly picks up the inhaler and uses it. He blinks and then the revolver is pressed against my forehead without him apparently moving. "The trial period is over." There is the sound of a shot and I wake up sweating and shaking. Dafoe up close as a gangster type villain can be frightening.

My heart hurt a little when he missed the Boondocks Saints quote, but admittedly that line was surrounded by far more quality quotes. Had he read the line directly after, done deal. This was a joy to watch.

It's absolutely criminal that Willem Dafoe of all actors hasn't gotten an Oscar yet. God only knows he deserves it for all the work he's put into these films.

Oh my gosh, first time I see any interview with this actor, and I must admit so I only had his impression as of the characters he had played, often villains. Here when I see his smile, I see he smiles with his entire face, eyes and face. Such a warm charming gentle personality it seems. I love this.

Willem Dafoe really is one of the best actors in the world. And his memory! He's been in so many movies and only missed two! I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday and this guy remembers small lines from 30-40 years ago! Holy $hit! I really have to have a Dafoe marathon now!

@ADAMdinho110 ай бұрын
I do believe he would've took that role to unbelievable places, I think there is still time to play the Joker but if the character pops up in a more mature role as age is the issue but could he play the joker when he's old in any point of a Batman story, absolutely. But your point is that nail on the head he would've been absolutely fabulous in that role.
