Darn, I bought this extremely rare and hard-to-find five-LP boxed set with 27-page illustrated booklet from Japan via ebay for $241. in January 2023, and then it was posted on KZbin in August 2023. Tomoaki Fujii was one of only a handful of explorers (who included Slobin, Bailey, Doubleday, Sakata, Danielou and a few others) who recorded music in Afghanistan before the Soviet invasion and the later rise of the anti-music Taliban, so these tracks would be a significant addition to any collection of traditional music from this part of the world. Side 1A of the set is religious music (adhan and Qur'an), an aspect of musical culture completely ignored by Western ethnomusicologists. Fujii made recordings from one end of present-day Afghanistan to the other, a broad if not comprehensive survey of a near-vanished world. He was also the editor for the series Music Of The Earth: Fieldworkers' Sound Collections, which included Afghanistan, On Marco Polo's Road (1997 CD). Thank you, ava's archive. - Daniel O'Donnell, Portland Oregon
