A lot of them started in the '80s in that area yes pero a lot of them in the Lower Bottoms area of South Central are older some much older. A lot of them are cliques of Varrios that are elsewhere in Los like East Side Clanton (since the '50s), West Side Primera Flats (since the late '60s), East Side Playboys (since around 1975) & este vato Shaggie mentioned that King Kobras & Al Capones (East Los area Varrios) were around the area when he first moved there. There also was some that started specifically there like East Side 13/Trece (late '70s) & Barrio Mojados (late '70s) Plus there was some old Varrios that that aren't around anymore that were in the Lower Bottoms like Barrio Locos (70s-early '80s), 22nd St (I've seen an old graffiti placa of them from the early '70s) & 40th St ('70s-early '90s) & the one Shaggie mentioned 42nd Street Winos.

For all the people commenting on the blacks messing with Mexicans growing up, I have to agree cause it happened to me out here in the SGV.... I was a young scrawny kid in junior high not knowing how to defend myself against them especially when they typically were older than me at the time. Then unfortunately by the time i hit high school, i was a full blown gang banging racist against them. Any chance i got i would try to get them... Sad vicious cycle.But I’ve grown up now and love everyone and teach me children to love and never judge. I do not allow any racist comments in my home

Bismillah Rahmani Raheem North Side Houston circa [Burbank Middle School] 1980-1990s, my African American brothers brutalized us Mexicans (especially the country Paisas), Mexican-Americans and Chicanos. I remember an African American kid used to go around running through the hallways while classes were transitioning, and slice up Latino kids with razors. He cut up my friend Marvin really bad. One time a crew of two or three African American kids kept knocking down my books as I walked. Then I saw (Lil) Jose. (Lil) Jose lived in the African American projects next to the school. All the African American kids feared him. He was smaller and thinner than me but he was as brave as God makes them. And he carried a large knife. The African American kids then left me alone. The Latinos with balls such as (Lil) Jose, the Latino Hip-Hop kids, the Latino headbangers, the geto vatos/cholos and some paisas were among the only ones that had courage to stand up against the brutal treatment we got for eating "beans,"speaking Spanglish and or for simply being "DemMesskins." Those were the days that because of "Do The Right Thing" you'd get stomped for accidentally stepping on a black kid's shoe. That changed a few years later when Joe Zuniga stomped the African American school quarterback because the quarter back threatened him by stating he'd catch Joe Zuniga slipping for accidentally stepping on his shoe. Joe Zuniga said "do something now" and then proceeded to stomp on him. This shook the entire school and the African American football coaches. I was of the few that avoided the race riots-because I was cool with all races, even though an African American man killed my older brother and never had the decency to apologize to my mom. Peace to (Lil) Derrick & (Lil) Jose. (Lil) Derrick was [African American urban black cholo type-Basically (Lil) Jose in an African American way and vice versa] cool with Latinos so I've made him a saint like (Lil) Jose. p.s. It was virtually impossible to fight an African American kid one on one. That's what made it hard at times or it seemed hard, because if you were fighting one kid, you'd end up fighting 30, and possibly people from the nearby projects. Man I've got so many stories to tell.

Flyboyhalo Publishing I don't know kinda. Irvington we always stood up to the blacks in oxford place tho we def some Ls and by 92 when I went to Burbank it was prob mostly brown with the only blacks coming form the projects Berry called oxford place and from Jensen. Burbank was definitely wired up in those days tho. For sure border brothers had it the worse. I'm a Chicano. My cuz got his shoes took in the projects my other cousin got stabbed there and my other cousin caught a body there busting on them boys from berry. My big cuz went there too he coaches ball there now it's mostly all Mexican now. But from my experience and knowledge it has been since the mid 80s. I'm from lindale a lot race riots at Burbank back in them days for sure.

The logistics showed he got a chance to bust back tho he went out like a G. Paisa from sinaloa never got to meet him I was born in 94... back 2013 I was Chillin across the street from my auntie house at the homies house when I see detectives roll up and talk to my aunt she started crying once they left I went up to her and asked her what happened. They came to tell her that they finally caught the killer. 23 years later.

Mr. Alonzo, I’ve always wondered why you rarely interview Mexican gang members, ones that are actually are about what your KZbin channel is called.. “streetgangs”.. not to take anything from any black homies but every time there’s a black “gang member” on your show, there always trying to promote some type of rap album or mixtape.. the few interviews I’ve seen you do with Mexican gang members are always the rawest, cuz these dudes actually be out catching bodies not trying to promote some mixtape for a career in rap they’ll never exceed in.. we need more interviews like this.. shed some light on real gang banging stories and real OG’s..

Interesting, I use to go to a school around that neighborhood at West Vernon avenue Elementary School. It was a long time ago but if I'm not mistaken one of the cross streets that lead to a corner of that school was W 43rd St and S Broadway. I remember when coming in and out of that school, I'd see a lot of HOB and OIC graffiti.
@Mr.213Eyee-jj3us Жыл бұрын
What's OIC ?
@abrahamgonzalez3009 Жыл бұрын
@Mr.213Eyee-jj3us I believe it stands or meant for ""One in one Same Crew." That's what these kids would answer when asked. Never went further in asking what was all about, but I'd see more OICK and HOB tags near West Vernon Elementary than just OIC. There was one kid who I met in West Vermon whose older brothers were in HOB, so OIC or OICK must have been some subgroup or just a kid's crew of HOB. This kid Narciso was all about his OIC crew once getting to see him in middle school. Now, when I was in LA Academy Middle School, it was all about the Play Boys, I'd see tags of East Side Play Boys throughout the 50s streets and HAR, which meant Hard as Rabbits. Don't know quite if HAR was a Play Boys click or just jr. subgroup crew associated with PBS. It was a strange but somewhat interesting time for me. Kids seemed like being in what was just known as crews. Even I got into one without having to be jumped or anything. It was good since they'd have my back when running into multiple BGCrip kids in the streets. After my brief time with such crew, I left to Mexico and never knew back again about such hoodlum culture of South Central L.A.

I remember Gerardo Renteria we were mostly in the same class at West Vernon Elementary school in 3rd, 4th and 6th grade. Lala was the lady who work in the food court cleaning the tables. Jerry's mom. Most of my childhood memories are long gone. I drove by and I can't even recognized most of the new road and new development from USC. South Central it's so different now. All of my childhood memories are no longer there like Sports Arena,, Castro, Auto Body, Dodgers Bar, furniture warehouse on Broadway, the Burger & Tacos joint across the HOB apartment, and who knows how many of my childhood friends survived?

Al Capones is a Varrio that started in Boyle Heights in the late '70s I believe in one of the Housing Projects I can't remember if it was Aliso Village or Pico Gardens. I'm guessing they spread to South Central from what this Vato said in his interview here.

Back in the day..SG was was showing young dudes on the front lines..I remember the old FTB vids, all the blood sets, the ECC vids, especially the G Aktive vid lol...all those vids were super exciting. Couldn’t wait to tune in on the ne t vid to see what was up. And now, it’s this. Interesting stories and stuff, but Alex this isn’t living up to the SG brand. I’ve been subscribed since early 2016 and I’ve noticed the change for sure. Stay up Alex, hope it doesn’t come off as hate or trolling. Just miss those vids man!!!
@omaisgee1236 жыл бұрын
Edgar Bagramyan Those interviews were from 7+ years ago. It MAY not seem like long but gang banging was already slowing down drastically, come 2018 and it's practically dead, you wont really see dudes out there banging in the open like that anymore.
@edgarbagramyan24036 жыл бұрын
dead-man I see where your coming from. I’m not from over there so I wouldn’t know that. You are right in that a lot of those vids are years old. But a lot of the ones I love are from 2015 and 2016. Even the recent follow up with Tee Tiger and the ECC was awesome. I guess part of what I love about SG is the fact that Alex showed a whole world and culture that I would never have known about if it wasn’t for this channel. In a way I’m glad that gang banging has died down a lot now. Hopefully there’s fewer dead young black men to match that trend. But still, I know there’s plenty more to show then stuff like this. Idk man, I just know there’s more interesting things out there than things like this. Videos like this one remind me of Kev Mac. Guess I’m talking out of school here, I’ll bow out. Do what you do Alex. I’ll stay tuned in!
