Very few people who stream work harder than people working a 9-5. Its not about the hours you put in, it's about the physical toll it takes on you. Someone working 40 hours a week in retail works harder than a streamer playing and editing videos for 55 hours a week.

While I didn't have a tonne of jobs before content creation, I can easily say that my retail job and IT job were extremely easy compared to content creation. There's so many factors for everything that it's impossible to give an all encompassing answer.

5:44 I think being a full time creator is no more easy or difficult than a regular job of similar time commitments and overall workload. I work in IT full time, and it also ebbs and flows from week to week. Food service and retail, restoration services, wealth management, realtors, etc., also put in a lot of time throughout the week, oftentimes beyond normal hours. I think people need to start categorizing content creation like they do “9-5” jobs, because in the end, everyone is in the same race, just different tracks.
@lordhelix2760

Yeah, it really boils down to what exactly that person is doing. I work a retail job, and I would say Varseity probably has a harder job than me, but compared to someone who who works in building houses or other physically demanding jobs, I would say they have the harder job. I also feel like anyone who says their retail job is harder than the mental strain of streaming and hours of editing for a chance of good video, are likely just the same people who would fail doing what he does.

I work 12 hrs a day 6 days a week and I work in a prison. People get stabbed, beat up, commit suicide, throw literal shit and piss at us, they hate us, and argue with us almost every hour we are there. There is no way in ANY world that making videos, playing video games, and complaining about how hard it is, is ANYWHERE near as hard as a real life job

Coming from a guy who worked a local job since 14, I’d say normal work would be harder than streaming. I do lawnmowing and made 8k over my time, not counting all the money I spent, and it’s way harder considering heat, manual effort, expenses, it’s harder. And I don’t even try to take days off, I can count that I took around 1 week and 3 days off. I wish I could be a streamer, life would be so much better

I think a lot of people dont realize that there are some absolute dogshit tier easy as fuck jobs and some absolutely draining jobs. There's no consistency in pretty much any market. Trying to compare the entirety of streaming to the entirety of 9-5s which can include shit like dead end office jobs and back breaking oil refinery work is kinda disingenuous. Some streamers also just sit down and stream non stop for 8-10 hours a day whereas others can get away with streaming for just 2-3 hours a week. It's heavily a case to case basis and I'm pretty sure the streamers who are claiming that their work as a streamer is more difficult than their own personal experience as a 9-5er. They're not saying that sitting down and playing videos games is harder than doing physical labor. They're saying that there's a lot more mental and social drain in streaming than what the viewer can see. It's similar to what you experience in a dead end office job except instead you have thousands of people constantly badgering you for attention. It's just some dumb online discourse that no one wants to approach with nuance.

Not one streamer would last 50 hours of hard labor a week stop it. Not talking about working retail, like construction or any trade work would literally have most people broken in fetal position after a week.
@VarsityGaming
@VarsityGaming 9 күн бұрын
This is the issue with the broad argument. Not many people would be able to be "on" for 40+ hours a week and do enough stuff to make content creation interesting enough that you'd make a living off of it. It's different skill sets and truly impossible to compare overall. All I can say is that content creation is harder than the jobs I had before.

I have to use and abuse myself physically and mentally all day long with a 30 minute lunch break, now don't get it twisted I get paid very well but I would take the work load of a streamer over a carpenter or plumber any day of the week.

People also need to understand that being a content creator now, you need to put way more time and effort in order to get even the slightest chance of a payout. Even then you won't get profit for a long time. Look at how long Varsity has been doing content and even now he's NOT the most well known or popular R6 creator. Most people won't understand how hard it is until they do it and see all the expenses and effort it takes to edit, photoshop, pay attention to trends, come up with ideas and record videos alongside paying for the video games. It also isn't a competition on how hard a job is, we all know it isn't the hardest job but it definitely is hard to get to where he is AND still be successful.

Let’s be real here, the production quality on these videos are not ex active the greatest, and since he’s been doing it for years, he probably has templates ready which he would just need to easily replace with different clips then render the vid. The thumbnails are literally just screenshots with texts. I’m not saying it’s bad but you can’t say this is high effort work. Till this day bro still make mistakes on his voiceovers sometimes. a huge chunk of his time is probably used on farming clips but can you even call that proper difficult work? In what other job can you sit around on discord calls while gaming with your friends and talk about random stuff while laughing out loud?
