वशिष्ठ गुफा ऋषिकेश से 20 किमी की दूरी पर गंगा नदी के तट पर स्थित है। यह गुफा ध्यान के लिये एक प्रमुख स्थान है और यह गूलर के पेड़ों के बीच स्थित है। गुफा के पास ही हिन्दुओं द्वारा पवित्र माना जाने वाला एक शिवलिंग है। विख्यात हिन्दू सन्त श्री स्वामी पुरुषोत्तमानन्द जी इस स्थान पर 1928 और 1961 में आये थे। उनका आश्रम गुफा के पास ही स्थित है जहाँ कई पर्यटक आते हैं।
At a distance of 20 km from Rishikesh and 6 km from Shivpuri, Vashishta Gufa or Vashishta Cave is an ancient cave located on Rishikesh - Badrinath road in Uttarakhand.
Vashishta Gufa, situated on the banks of the Ganga River, is a popular place for meditation lovers. This is the cave where great Sage Vashishta said to have meditated. He was also among the seven great sages (Saptarishis) and the guru of Lord Ram. According to Hindu mythology, after the death of his children, Sage Vashishta, he decided to commit suicide in River Ganga, but was refused by Goddess Ganga. Arundhati, Vashishta's wife, liked the location and decided to stay here. Sage Vashishta meditated here for long time in a cave.
It is believed that in the year 1930 Sri Swami Purushottamananda Ji visited this gufa and now his ashram is located close to the Vashishta Gufa, where meditation is practiced. At present, the Swami Purshottamanand Trust manages this cave. The cave is a natural formation of 60 feet deep that has a Shiv Linga inclined vertically into the cave opening. Many people feel amazing while meditating in this cave. There are some rooms built outside the cave area, where many sadhus have been living permanently.
The Vashishta Gufa is situated in the middle of a grove of Gular (Ficus) trees and the slopes leading to sacred River Ganga. To reach this cave, one has to climb a flight of around 200 steps.

Pranam, sir. You have made excellent video. We will be going Rishikesh next month. We will definitely visit this place and meditate there. We are very good meditators. How can we reach this place? Auto?cab? Bus? Should we have to engage auto/cab to and fro? Or can we get buses to Rishikesh for return journey? Further, fruits or tea available there? How much cabwaalla charge? Kindly give reply. To reach vashishta gufa ashram you can hire a cab to and fro, for this they may charge 500 to 700 and there is no regular bus service to reach here but you can get into a bus from luxman jhulla which goes to dev prayag route, this bus will drop you here and will charge only 10 to 15 rupees or you can take lift also There is not much eatable shops or food stall here, so it is better if you carry your own food from luxman jhulla

Sir, As much as i know, Anyone can visit here and can meditate in the cave and stay there around whole day but i am not sure about night stay and food facility that it is avilable there or not, although there are few rooms there but only sadhus live in them and there is no web site or phone number is avilable of the temple, this is all i know
