I didn't finish all of the shrines, but my least favorite among those I did was easily Courage to Fall. In retrospect the hint feels pretty obvious but I was scouring every wall of the map, the actual solution feels so counter-intuitive not only in context of how lasers are used elsewhere in this game, but many other games too.
@VaskoGames Жыл бұрын
That one almost made it to the list as well for that very reason

I had previously went to a shrine that had the lasers and saw that there was ground underneath in those, so I figured it would be required, but I can't imagine how confused I would be if I wasn't so lucky
@michaellane5381 Жыл бұрын
I used shrines as free healing.... That shrine killed me many times.... Not from difficulty as I killed everything quickly , but I kept thinking there was some safe spot in the pit as I thought the lasers would kill instead of alarm.... I just really wish they had given us alarm/trigger lasers as devices or in the tutorial. I think as is we only have.... 2 locations? This shrine and the forge.

for the aligned circles shrine, i actually got the clue to look upward since the torches are mirrored upwards and downwards, which made me think there was something getting mirrored. along with that, i actually got to the force transfer after doing the spirit temple, and the way one of the doors there works made me think about that one. good video!

I, too, wished for more blessing shines to be like the Unlit blessing, that one was a cool subversion of expectations. I actually completed "the right roll" fairly quickly, then I loaded a save to experiment with something before I collected the blessing. I then realized the save I made where I'd completed it didn't work and had to struggle through completing it again.

I really liked the right roll, just not the last part. I tried so many combinations with the balls and ended up getting annoyed, fusing the big one to a weapon and throwing it purely out of frustration. And I was surprised when it worked! So it was still worth it since I had that moment of accidentally finding a different solution

@Monty2289 Жыл бұрын
I guess I get the frustration with the target press shrines but I wanted nothing to do with them. I cheated. If you have bomb arrows the pressure emitted from them striking the target satisfies it. So if I saw I had to deal with BS I just shot the target with a bomb arrow. The bat shrine if I had known it at the time - it was my earliest target shrine I'd have just shot them with bombs.

@Monty2289 Жыл бұрын
Well skill issue then because that's not how I solved it at all and it was super untuitive. I think I was in the right area code on it. Instead of cog providing power I used ultra hand to move the platforms and used recall to send them back up. The right combination of ascend, ultrahand, and recall gave enough height to just clear it. It is a stupid shrine

Omg for the brdging the sands shrine, i could not have cheesed it more. I love the whole shrine concept more than having big dungeons. I loved them in botw and even more in totk. I also liked the blessing shrines if I already did a whole puzzle to get to the shrine. I saved all the survival shrines until I got over 25 hearts - didn’t even attempt them earlier, as I loathed the island in botw that robs you of all gear.
@limlix Жыл бұрын
Funny story: I didn’t understand in the proving grounds, the hunt shrine that the point is to use the little dog monster targeter, so I went through the hole shrine by force and using only my weapons and I died so many times I almost gave up just to get max hearts come back and kill them all with some kind of mass destruction weapon ( I didn’t know I couldn’t use zonai devices from my inventory then)

On Drifting Flame, I used Recall to light all 3 torches. That shrine was a mayor head scratcher
@MrSuperleobros Жыл бұрын
Its funny because i feel compwred to botw there's less shrines that felt like filler. My favorite shrines were the proving ground shrines but the roomba one was my favorite. It made me realise how crazy you can pimp out your own little monster destroying death bot. I adore fusing a construct head with canons and lazer beams and just sending it into a monster camp so i can save on weapon durability. I also enjoyed the courage to jump. I kinda agree i wish there were more shrines purely to showcase just how fun zonai vehicles are. For the rauru's blessing shrines. I feel alot of people miss the point of these shrines but with that said there are some that genuinely surprised me as i didnt even realise i solved a puzzle like the one in the gerudo highlands near the white-maned lynel, unless the lynel was the puzzle lol.

For the Drifting Flames shrine, I realized I could drop a weapon to activate the button, so I mixed ultrahand and recall to get my weapon in the button when I was on the side of the candle, and them used arrows on fire (not fire arrows) to light the other candles. And then I collected my weapon
@levthelion71810 Жыл бұрын
For the torch lighting shrine, I just held down the button with recall and used the candle to shoot fire arrows
@rjgaynor8 Жыл бұрын
Drifting flame solution is actually pretty clever if you ask me. The wall is just at the right height that if you aim with a bow just above the wall in the direction of the torch’s you will light them every time. It teaches you about arrow arching.

5:04 You're supposed to put the candle on the ground, and lowering and then raising the floor causes it to jump up and light the torches which have lowered enough for the candle to reach them when jumping. You don't need to use recall or arrows. I agree it was pretty confusing.

i quite liked the blessing shrines because they actually made you do puzzles *outside* of the world in most cases, which. are more interesting than more shrines. im not exactly a shrine hater but i am also a bit tired of bite-sized-puzzle-worlds that are magical and disconnected from the outside world alignment of the circles was like. i get what it was trying, and i understand why it had a big staircase. to try and make you look up. but it took me several minutes of confusion to notice the circles on the ceiling despite that

I really hate just all the blessing shrines, I get the whole idea is that the challenge is actually getting to the shrines but in a game like totk where you can get anywhere extremely easy they just don’t feel very interesting, especially when a lot of blessing shrines feel like you get them for something that isn’t very hard and normal shrines are given for things that do legitimately feel like you should get a blessing for instead of a normal shrine
@amyhartman678610 ай бұрын
Not enough puzzle shrines in this game I miss the real challenge here. Down to finding my last remaining shrines by looking at what is above the light roots. Seems the majority of shrines in this game are either walk up a set of steps and collect the stupid orb or they stuff you into what looks like Nike or Under Armor athletic shorts, for what reason I do now know as they just do not fit into the style of clothing used in this game's theme at all. Then they have you dismantle a bunch of robots while wearing those shorts. I think if they wanted it to represent a bare minimum an ancient looking Zonai Loincloth would have been a better representation and at least add a variety of different enemy types other then these same constructs for every single proving grounds shrine. Killing these same robots over and over again is not a challenge "though tedious" because there are too many shrines of the same type just as the blessing ones, but not a challenge even while you are only wearing those Nike shorts. A good challenge variety would of been a Gloom hands fight with only shrine provided materials allowed to be used for example. Meaning you can't cheese that Gloom Hands and Phamtom by stacking Shard of Naydra's and dinraal's Spikes.

I probably would remember if I did. 6:44 I think I had to look this up because I did not realize there were torches here. 7:52 Bomb arrows make this shrine much easier. I wish I knew this before since I had to look up how to do this one. 8:09 I had some trouble with this one. I probably could have done a better job here. 8:49 I really wish I used the vehicle in the center of the room but I did not find out how to reach it until I after I finished it.

Force Transfer and that minigolf shrine are the epitome of bad physics challenge items. The latter is jsut finnicky but at least the solutions are obvious. The problem is how you reset the device which is ungodly annoying and not fun. When you screw up you're punished and you get to the point where you're forced to try janky shit. I even tried just grabbing to two iron blocks attaching them and then attach the ball. It was just not fun. Force Transfer is stupid for the opposite reason. The solution is not obvious and It was not intuitive what so ever. I ended up building roofs with the material and lifting them into place with recall and then just ascending up which gave me just enough height to get to the LOB.
