That edge guard looks like it would cause a lot of mis-hits when you hit the ball in the throat area.

I bought one and have been playing with it for a couple of weeks. 13.5 mm I like it, but I do think the 6.0 is better. When I switched back to my 6.0, it just felt right. I definitely don’t like the feedback from the alchemy. It also doesn’t have as big of a sweet spot, or I should say if you don’t hit the sweet spot, it is very noticeable.

I had the same thoughts. I went back to my hyperion after playing with the 13.5mm Alchemy for a bit. I wanted to swap it for a 16mm, but Vatic has a 20% restocking fee, so I chose to hold onto it for a future paddle trade or something.

I played with the Alchemy and returned. I do play with the Vatic Flash and the Vatic Prism and I liked them a lot better

I have the Vatic prism 16 and 14...I like the feel of the 16 but it wasn't as easy to flick far away backhand like my 6.0 DBD. .so I got the 14 and it doesn't have the oomph of the 6.0....judging from your description of this paddle, it wouldn't solve any issues so I will stay with the DBD because that checks all the boxes for me right now...maybe a little weight on the 14mm may increase pop but at what cost do I lose the ability to flick the far away shots...great job Chris

Great video Chris! The gameplay, camera angles, and editing were so well done and made the 13 minutes fly by! My question is, now that there is a good sample size of throat holed paddles, do you feel that the hole is improving the aerodynamics of these paddles and therefore increasing handspeed? Or is it more of a gimmick or aesthetic thing?

Doesn’t that huge amount of ‘edge guard’ on the inner cutout lead to way more weird and unpredictable bounces during hand-battles? Even more than the edge-less Selkirk. Seems like that should be illegal. 🤷‍♂️

Great review! I’ve got a Legacy Pro and love the way it plays, but I am still slightly worried about a delam (haven’t had one yet). What’s a paddle that plays similar to it I can pick up as a backup? Is the Forza similar?

Closest to legacy pro are probably the CRBN 1x, Bread and Butter Filth, and Vatic Pro V7.

Not a fan of the "throat hole" thang. Always thought it was "gimmicky" Main reason for me is I.m a "ping pong" gripper. Don't judge me!! Fits my game and elbow issue. The face sounds "clacky"? Is that a new Dura? That Hillbilly Benny Hill music is classic for comedy aspect for content.
