'The work is a superb love-poem, expressing both physical and spiritual longing...' (James Day, Master Musicians: Vaughan Williams, OUP). One of the composer's finest and most original pieces, inspired by the biblical Song of Songs. As Vaughan Williams wrote in the original programme note, 'This has nothing to do with buttercups and daisies'

Exactly, which is why I get very annoyed with recordings that use boy soprano voices in the choir! It creates a very strange atmosphere...

Not quite Daphnis and Chloe but worth hearing and a good performance.

I prefer VW to Ravel, VW is far more frugal, modest and honest, there is no jargon impressionniste or L'art pour l'art, but an invitation to share feelings, impressions and sensitivity. In short: Flos Campi is not a ballet

Generally a good performance, but sadly misses the whole point at 10:57.

What cadenza? I just performed this last night and there's no cadenza between IV and V.
