You know how many nights an Allman and a Betts have stood there and played along side each other? And it's absolutely magical that it's happening again, for an entire nother generation 🙏❤️❤️❤️
@jamesgist85823 жыл бұрын
That "box" that Duane is talking about is called the "Dicky Betts Pentatonic" scale by some players. I learned it in 1971 off the At Fillmore East album. It has served me well. Duane Allman and Dicky Betts both had a great sense of melody. Duane was more up and down the neck. Dicky used that box idea alot. Duane knew these two styles would work together. Somehow. Thanks to Devon and Duane for making this video. Also cool to get a look at Duane's Firebird.

One is named after Duane.One looks like Duane. Their Fathers may have had a few personal differences over the years yet they can sit here making beautiful music. Allman Brothers and Sons.
@CraneFast5 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify, that is not Duane Allman's son. It is Gregg Allman's son.
@paulfrombrooklyn54094 жыл бұрын
@@CraneFast I think he is referring to Gregg. Duane and DIckey didn't have personal differences that anyone knows of and over the years would imply Gregg because Duane died so young. And we know that Gregg and Dickey had their differences.

After seeing these two men live, it's really nice to hear their thoughts on playing and how they learned themselves. Each of them are great guitarists and it's amazing to see them both live after having seen each of their dads play live as well. The new generation!

Duane's solo starting at 1:06 is so dirty. Crazy syncopation. Coming in on the and of 1 of the 2nd bar of his chorus. Guns a' blazin'. I've been listening to him since 2003, and he's hands down one of my all time favorites, and I've seen/listened to so many of the greats. Both known and unknown. Something about his playing hits me deep (from the very first time I heard him). He's a great guy too. Dickey's influence obviously shines through, but Duane is grittier, more rock n' roll, and definitely his own man as a player. I love Dickey, but don't get the same reaction/feeling to his playing as I do Duane's. Not saying one is better than the other. Just that each has a distinct feel. If you want another comparison, Mick Taylor (except Duane doesn't play slide). They definitely have a similar tone. Duane's tone is nuts, but to really get a true sense of it, you have to hear him live w/ the gold top (what is it about Les Paul guitars' tone?). Please, go see him live if you get the chance.
