Titans can be and definitely are taller than the measly 54 meters in that unofficial fan picture (5:05) From official lore: "Black, humanoid figures paced slowly in across the limits of the palace sprawl. They were shaped like armoured men, and they trudged like men, but they were giants, each one hundred and forty metres tall. The Mechanicum had deployed a half-dozen of its Titan war engines." - Horus Rising, Pg. 19 And also the fact that an entire company of soldiers can be transported in the legs of an Emperor class...

***** they need the firepwr. due to many things (like almost no advancement in tech) the large weapons are needed and they need to fight things that are well, lets just say there's a lot worse things then orcs out there and plus those troops can end wars a lot faster then others and unlike others these guys not only have a ton of honor (witch makes it harder to corrupt them) they also have lives outside of combat meaning they really do have more to fight for and will be less likely to turn (though with them it will just be harder not impossible) then standard troops (most being sent to worlds to fight having no ties to it).

If only there was some video someplace that showcased the destructive capabilities of the Titans weapons. Imagine the hell the weapons mounted on the Emperor class could do. I remember reading that were was a weapon that could level an entire city in a single volley.

I'm going to show my age here... Knights are not recent additions to the lore. They were actually featured in White Dwarf back in the early to mid 90s, for the Epic scale 40k battles, and then quietly forgotten until GW realised it could re-introduce them to the 40k tabletop game...and make a crap ton of money from the models. If they're following the original idea for the knights, expect to see the Eldar equivalents introduced in the not too distant future.

There seem to be some inconsistencies in the source material when it come to the height of Titans. Some say feet while others say meters, and there's a HUGE difference between feet and meters. The 40k Wiki (which is what I used to research this, it could be wrong for all I know) says the Warlord Titan is 80 meters tall and the Imperator Titan is 150 meters tall. Someone please let me know if this is accurate, and I certainly hope so because I refuse to believe that something classed as a "God Machine" is only 80 feet tall.

MGS2guy Honestly, the heights are so inconsistent through the official sources I just took one source and stuck to it (although small, the height 40-80 feet is the most quoted size of that sort of titan). I'll address the inconsistency in my next video on them.

Titans can be much larger than 100 feet tall. Imperator Titans range all the way up to 150-300 meters or 450-900 feet tall.

Interesting comment - In one of the Imperial Armory books done by Forge World, there's a full-scale invasion done by the Imperium against the Tau, with the Tau having figured that word about Titans was simply propaganda, cus CLEARLY noone would be crazy enough to use a combat robot THAT big... Needless to say, they got their butt smacked a few times until they invested in some bigger railguns.

You really ought to bring up the varying viewpoints about titan scale - lots of very strong opinions written about this on warseer - at least acknowledge there are differing views on it. Essentially, one side thinks warlords are about 3ish times the height of Knight titans, while the opposite extreme has some points as to why they are much bigger - the size of very small mountains. Though the miniature game may portray them at a certain height, I think its due to manufacturing practicality of model titans than depicting lore. That and those who own those mini titans would be more likely to justify the current scale. Who really wants to qualify that their expensive model is really only a placeholder........ Me. I own a Warhound and lancer, and though they are very cool models, in my mind, they would be much much bigger to match the ostentatious scale of hive cities and humongous defensive walls. That and I have a hard time believing that titans would mean that much on a battlefield lorewise. The imperium is even known to redirect fleet components to secure them (a big deal), and then, I further have a hard time seeing them making much difference in warzones composed of billions of combatants - with the small scale comparison you referenced ;) There's just not enough utility there to justify that with your referenced scale.

As cool as the idea is, I'm not sure of the practicality of immensely tall top heavy two legged walking war machines. Seems to me that the legs and joints would be a particularly weak spot for tanks to take out, and once that happens the whole thing would come crashing down.

The whole titan is protected by a shield which absorbs damage.

They're for intimidation mostly. They don't usually get deployed without an entire army to cover them, so the weaknesses don't matter as much. One of the Forgeworld Tau models is a gunship specifically designed to take them down in one or two hits and which are (relatively) extremely cheap, the description from the book that has the rules for it mentions they couldn't figure out the point either.

CastelDawn They are really designed for intimidation and to deal mass damage than to actually prove as a threat in battle. Yes they are useless. But if you are the enemy and you see one of those things come walking into battle guns blazing, the opposition's morale would drop immensely.

Tyler Silverstein No one can seem to agree on how tall the Warlord Titan is, with claims ranging from 30 metres to 200 metres. The official Apocalypse states that the Mars-pattern is 33 metres. To put it in perspective, the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro is 38 metres tall.

ThorgarTheBloodedOne the Knight-pilots are themselves also called "Knights". They're members of the Knight-Houses. They usually have some cybernetics but they're not Space Marines.
