Vauxhall Astra 2014 | Water Leak in Windscreen and Doors |

💧 The windscreen and three of the doors were leaking on this Vauxhall Astra.
The problem with the doors were twofold. Firstly, the drainage holes at the bottoms of the doors were blocked, causing the doors to fill up and overflow, pushing past the membrane. Secondly, the membranes ware beginning to come away which means any water now running down the inside of the membrane will now pass straight through.
Solution: The windscreen will need to be refitted, which isn't such an expensive job, after all there is no need to buy a new screen, it just needs to be re-sealed. We will remove the door membranes and wash out the bottom of the doors, ensuring there is no debris in there that can block the drainage holes, then membranes will be re-fitted and carefully sealed.

Meriva b has roof bars mounts I found that the clips that hold them where loose , and let water in,it runs along a channel in the inside and drippes from the sun shade mounts .

Hi John I have just noticed my 2013 astra passenger pillar has started leaking, I was starting to thing this may be my issue, was it an easy diy fix or required going into the garage?

Astra's are notorious for holding water in the doors, even if you take out the rubber bung drains. My GTC-J especially ... the drain holes are at the rear of the doors, yet the slope of the doors means that this is the highest point, the front of the doors (lowest point), have no drain holes and so there will always be some water in there. Best remedy is to either drill extra holes at the front or always park on a steep uphill gradient.

I've got a leak on the rear of an astra j 5 door hatchback. Been looking on the forums for year and no one can really find an issue. Comimg from roof area as rear pillars are wet and part of the roof lining.

I have never heard of this happening on a Vauxhall, but on some other hatchbacks, the shell will flex and bend. The shell is put together with spot-welded which isn't waterproof, so they put a sealant over the welds and then paint over them. Over time cracks can appear in these which let in water. It sometimes happens around where the tail-gate hinges are on some models. You could try looking there.

Mine was leaking from the boot strut clamps, I removed them applied some silicone and it’s been resolved

My front doorpillars, are green 6 inches from the corner up, water just seems to be pouring from them when it rains, should I take the door pillars off and seal from the inside or should I take the windscreen door seal out and do it from the outside. How do I take the windscreen door seal out?

Windscreen fitting is best left to professionals. It shouldn't cost too much money as they won't be replacing the windscreen, which is the expensive part, just refitting it.

I test drove an Astra today and when I opened and shut the door water poured out from the bottom (been driving for 20 years and never seen this before) is this a something that isn’t right? A lot fell out and I’m guessing this car door has been opened a lot in the week or so it’s been sat in the court, seems weird to me that the door would store that much water and then empty when I opened the door maybe a few days after someone else had, why would it get that much so quick?

You sometimes see this when, at some time in a car's history, the window has been broken. Shattered glass falls inside the door and blocks the holes. When a new window is replaced, a good window fitter will vac out all the broken glass and make sure the drainage holes are clear and free of debris. Otherwise, it is fairly rare for the drainage holes at the bottom of doors to block up, but it is possible if the car has spent years sitting under a tree and the external rubber strips don't create a decent seal.

Either, but you need to find somebody who can also dry the car, because there is probably a lot of water in there - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqnVla2Adr9ki7s A bodyshop might be more likely to be able to strip and dry it out.
