We had one of these bought new with a 1.4L engine. Best God damn car we ever had. Great performance and room. Faultless really.

Picked up a 1998 corsa 1.0 recently. 42k miles, 12 months MOT, £450 Put 14k miles on it in 8 months and it's flawless. Regularly do 400+ miles in a day at over 70mph and 50+ MPG. Best car ever.

@@jacobs3031 Mostly between Newark on Trent and Scotland for house viewings. 3 years later and I'm now on 110k, absolutely smashing it. 6.6p per mile on initial investment and still going strong.

This was my first car! A 1997 Corsa 1.4 CDX, that used to belong to my grandmother! For a 11 year old car, it was quite well equipped with central locking, electric windows, airbags and a sunroof. I don't see why people complain about the car. Sure it hasn't got a sporty feeling when you drive it, but a car like this isn't build to be a great drivers car, but to be a practical city car. And it was that! It's smaller in size than most compact cars today with a very decent amount of interior and booth space and above all, very dependable! I never had any mechanical problems with it!

It only got one star in the EURONCap crash test and although the passenger bit of the compartment wasn't badly wrecked it was curtains for the driver.

​@@ElectricityTaster really? When the Vauxhall Corsa MkI (or Opel Corsa B in Europe) was first launched in 1993, it was one of the first supermini cars, if not the first, to be equipped with side-impact bars, which I think it's an important improvement in passive safety, compared to older cars

Cool retro review! Thank you! It was a 1998 Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 5 door that sold me on small cars. Drove it for two weeks around Scotland and I loved every minute of it. . Now, 22 years later having owned VW's and Subarus (including, currently, a ripping WRX), I'm finally driving something as close to a Corsa as I can find in the U.S: A Mitsubishi Mirage. I'm not alone in wishing that we could get a lot of the Vauxhall models in the U.S. I would love to have had a 98 Corsa back in the day.

I'm planning to buy a 1998 Corsa 1.6 GSI and It is fast (192kph top speed/106hp), it is reliable, it is small (perfect for a city like Istanbul), it has a/c, sunroof, power-steering and power windows(most of the cars from its price range don't have those). I'm looking for a clean one with no rust and nice condition engine, it will be my 1st car and it may be the last because it's so good.

Good little engines, hes right about them being refined once you're up to speed. Did they have to make the facelift interiors in the lower level models so drab though. Funky dash let down by depressing cabin materials. I changed the Envoy grey for an early prefacelift SRi trim in black and polka dot sports trim. Much more jolly!

Best car i have ever owned! And the cheapest! From 2002 to 2019 in all those years only got about 800 euro of maintenance and that's it!, cheapest car and best reliable car i've ever owned better this new SEAT i own now... 6 months and already leak problems and more stuff to be repaired! Already looking for a new OPEL already!

I've had two of these. 5 door 1.2L and 3 door 1.4L both petrol. Interior is shit. What he didn't tell you is that the centre console dials don't light up so you cant see what you're doing at night. These cars are crap. Get something else.
