Hi Gemma.I received my Platinum Smartwash cleaner yesderday and it is absolutely BRILLIANT ! Completely chalk and cheese compared to my old Vax cleaner and SOOOOOO easy to clean after using.

Can I just add my positive experience please. I purchased mine from Argos one year and three weeks after there was a problem with it. Obviously Argos did would not help as out of warranty, but I did register for the six year warranty. I reported it via their web chat online portal on the Friday evening and not expecting it to be a positive experience. BUT.. I was called on the Sunday and a pickup was arranged for the Monday. The communications was superb and a brand new one was delivered the following Sunday. The customer experience was in my opinion the best I have had. Yes it failed, but I have previously had a Bissell hot wash and rug doctor and so did those fail. I went with the Vax for the six year warranty and so pleased I did and would recommend it to anyone for ease of use and performance. Just to remember to register for the six year warranty. Well done Vax....

Have just used the hand tool brush to clean stair carpet and noticed there was no dirty water in the reservoir and carpet does feel quite damp. Should soak up water on backward stroke. Am I doing something wrong

Throughly enjoyed your review as I am thinking of placing my old Vax cleaner into retirement.It is about 8 years old,so heavy and difficult to clean the dirty water tank.On reading about the Platinum SmartWash it is lighter than my old one and easier to clean.

I think it is important to say that it makes sense to vaccum the carpet first. Saves on all the "gunk" clogging the bristles.

I have this machine and it is absolutely brilliant! As u said easy to use clean and manoeuvre! I had the normal platinum before this one which is good but this one is far better as sooo easy to clean it all afterwards and no tools needed to take it to bits! Highly recommend 100%

After cleaning floors and sofa 10 hours later both still wet in places and damp. Its not that I don't know I am doing been using a vax cleaner for 7 years now, many friends and family houses cleaned. we have open plan living and all the furniture feels sticky. Now put the heating on cleaning results much better than the old vax cleaner the big heavy (orange one) would recommend.

Could you use a normal hoover afterwards to help it dry or does it need to be a hover that’s water friendly ?

Hello we bought this cleaner last night from argos and although it's an amazing cleaner ours doesn't click into place when it's stood up it just falls down so I was wondering if it's broken and defective on this part ? Should it be able to click into place when it's stood up please ??

Mine stays up and yes it should click, why not use the six year warranty, mine was picked up FOC on the Monday and a brand new one delivered on the Sunday.

I bought a vax in mid 2020 ,the family all use the machine and it is a different design to this being demonstrated I find it great and easy to use with one drawback and that is cleaning the brushes that are clogged with wet fluff .they are difficult to remove especially for a woman ,as two screwdrivers are needed i find it difficult and time taking but I wouldn’t be without the Machine.

@@kath3832 I got one yesterday. It cleaned really well. I found the carpets took about 2hrs to dry, except on the stairs which took a longer. There’s a button you can press for dry only to go back over the carpet to get more water out of them.

Hi. On the Smartwash they just pop out and having bought the Rug Doctor and top Bissell, the Smartwash is by a long way the easiest to keep clean.

No, the Smartwash Platinum's rollers just lift out, no screws.

No. I had one of those, the belt kept breaking and there were 8 screws to undo, it caught fire on me. It was the Vax pets and family model. It cost £149 from Amazon. I claimed under the warranty direct from Vax and they replaced it with the Platinum Smartwash. It is very easy to clean and no belts. Nothing to unscrew. Very easy to use too.. And it is twice the price!!

Yes i could only see Vax review which is why I wanted to create an honest review, as I use KZbin to research everything before I buy!From our carpet I emptied the tank around 5 times, which seems like a lot however this was the first time cleaning the carpet so we did go over the same spots around 3-4 times to make sure we were getting a deep clean, which used a lot of water resulting in more tanks of dirty water to empty, I think you have to factor in how dirty the carpets are too as the next time I clean it I am sure I will empty less tanks of dirty water. In the video when I empty the tank for the first time you can see how much carpet we covered and we went over each section of carpet around 3-4 times washing and then drying, and we also used the dry only setting to suck up any remaining moisture, I’ve not used any other machines to compare it too but I suppose it really depends on what you are using it for the most as to whether you would need a machine with a larger tank but it’s very quick and easy to empty so it wasn’t an issue for us as we are only using for home use, hope this helps! 😄

You have to vacuum your carpets first. This is not for vacuuming its a washer and sucks back the dirty water. Lend out. Thats up to you! I don't !

Thank you for watching. The drying function is very effective at suctioning the water back up especially on the dry only setting, so they already felt semi dry after going over the area a few times. I would say it took approximately 2-3 hours before they felt dry enough where you wouldn’t notice any moisture as you walk over the carpets and maybe a few more hours to be completely 100% dry to the touch!

Its a carpet cleaner not a vacuum cleaner! It s not for picking up debris so you need to dry vacuum the carpet first with your normal 'hoover' before you clean it. It shampoos and sucks out the water its not for vacuuming. You must make sure the carpet is completely dry before you put your hoover back over it.

Someone asked could you use your normal hoover to aid drying of the carpet. Absolutely NOT, a normal vacuum cleaner should only be used on dry floors and you should only use that to thoroughly vacuum first to pick up debris. You use the Vax carpet cleaner machine to pick up the water in the cleaning process. If you want a machine to do both , buy a HENRY a wet and dry cleaner Allow several hours to get the carpet completely dry, depending how wet you've made the carpet in the cleaning process. What is not clear in this video, it is very important to vacuum thoroughly BEFORE you use the carpet cleaner to cut down on the lint and stop machine clogging up. Pre treat any bad stains First. Empty waste down toilet or a drain not your sink!! Clean the machine out before you store it away. Its easy to clean. The Hose attachments are stiff to remove from the Hose. An expensive machine, but the best domestic carpet cleaner on the market. It is very large so you need storage space for it. The customer service from Vax is first class in my opinion.

Its a b***** to get off! You've got to lift the tab over the knob (it doesn't depress to allow the tool to slide off) and then pull without snapping off the tab. The other tool fits differently it seems with a sliding catch...why? Design fault in my opinion.

Had one these a month ago only used it twice the 2nd time the main drive belt snapped can't get a belt any where been in touch with VAX They don't have any but gave me a list of repair shops who also don't have any one person I spoke to said no spare parts have been released yet for these machines so I've got a £300.00 cleaner sitting in the conservatory that can't use you can't actually talk to anyone from VAX its all automated

It cant be this model that you have as the drive system is not accessible by the user and you should be able to get it repaired under the warranty. I had problems with a Vax cleaner on a different model. The belt kept breaking. Vax replaced and upgraded the machine for me. I found them very helpful. Ring them, you will get through with patience.
