I absolutely despise Vayne as a top laner. Her Q simply deals way too much damage while having among the lowest cooldown of all basic abilities. It used to be 6-second cooldown at rank 1, but since they reduced it to 4 and double the bonus AD ratio (increased from 0.3 to 0.6 bonus AD), it's been one of the worst type of pokes a melee top laner has to suffer. Comparing to other top lane ranged matchups at level 1, Lucian has 2.1 AD ratio on his Q-auto attack combo at 9-second cooldown or 2.5 AD on his auto attack-E reset-auto attack at 22-second cooldown, Quinn has 1.2 to 1.3 AD ratio on her passive-enhanced auto attack at 8-second on-target cooldown, and Jayce only 1.0 AD auto attack, since his W early game is pretty shite. Otherwise, you can run way back to not get further auto attacked by them and dodge most of their other skillshots by sidestepping them or hiding behind your minions. On the other hand, not only that Vayne has longer auto attack range than all those above but also when she can poke you under her attack range, she can auto attack you twice by attacking the first time then using Q to reset her auto attack timer, and increase it's damage. Therefore she deals 2.6 AD (260% of her AD, even higher than Lucian when they both ) as undodgeable damage everytime she pokes you (because you can't dodge auto attacks unless you're Fiora, Gwen, Jax, Shen or Yasuo), at only 4-second cooldown, at level 1. Even when you compare Vayne's trading at level 3 to Lucian's or Quinn's when the latters get access to their full combos, her Q's cooldown is still at worst 4 seconds and her W available, therefore Vayne still can deal more damage to her melee matchups than Lucian or Quinn by poking them more often with her short Q cooldown and W. Surely you as a melee top laner can use your dashing ability to jump her and fight back at level 1, but her Q still has only 4-second cooldown and also has a dash, therefore her Q dash still deals more damage and has shorter cooldown than yours, therefore you're still more likely to lose against Vayne when fighting back against her before level 6. Her W might seem fair and I wouldn't complain about her scalings, but with Lethal Tempo and her Q still being problematic, I think Vayne's Q damage or cooldown should be nerfed in order to provide more room for the opponent top laner to play against her. I'd love to receive feedbacks on how to play top against Vayne, since she's the only ranged matchup up until now that I can't get ahead against without my team's help.
