thank you for the approach sir , i guess i should just talk to you here, coz youre a very busy man, i appreciate your reply . . you see im having trouble with my system called enrollment with billing . a not so interesting system that i made myself, and ill defend it on the next monday , im glad they didnt ask for documentations coz, i do have a partner but i look like dont coz SHE didnt participate . anyways , my system is, as youve what you have read, an enrollment system with billing ,, means a system for the literal way of enrolling ,but not that special , i mean its so simple , icant even finish it , . my prof asking asks me to for example when i have registered a student , it has 2 methods, installment and cash/fully pay cash is easy coz when its paid nothing to check , no need to update . but the installment , ive tried to make it this way it has 4 quarters , prelim, midterm pre-finals and finals , so you only need to pay 4x but i forgot the down payment, im so dumb, what school accepts student without down payment? pluuuus , he want me to disable the textboxes/checkboxes or the value to be able to edit/update again, once its paid , it cant be updated again ,, any suggestions sir ? what should i do? i really need help, im begging you sorry for loooong message and laaate reply , im hoping for your reply , thank you so muuuuch in advance :)

+Mark David Rivera That's a big question and I'm not entirely certain that I fully understand, but I would use three tables - something like: [Students] - a master student record with ID and other student info [Billings] - master table for full billing/invoice data, due date, payment status, amount paid, amount due [Payments] - child table for each billing payment made by the student - payment amount, quarter, payment type (cash, check, credit card, etc.). With these relational tables you can easily query and calculate what a student has paid, what amount is due for a bill/invoice, and what the status of the bill is (PAID, UNPAID, VOIDED). Then you can query the Billing.Status to indicate whether your form controls to add/edit payments are disabled.

thank you very much for the respond sir , i can kinda get what youre saying but you see im so newb in coding, i can only use the vb.net codings , and i only know how to connect access to it , if i need to use the sql way , i guess ill try it if it's what i needed to apply what you have said. . what i mean about payment here sir is for instance; quarter by quarter payments if the method is (installment) are downpayment,prelim,midterm,pre-finals,finals lets say i have paid the downpayment and prelim , i cant enable or access it again , how can i do that :/ . and what's the best thing to do? different courses have different subjects making the tuition fee different. should i set a price before i run the system or should i let the admin/cashier(the one to handle the system) to set the amount every payment/enrollee ? . . thank you very much sir sorry for late response , i have read this the day you have replied , but i lost internet connection that day. thank you in advance again sir, God bless
