Thank you! I was trying to do this in PHP (what a mess and I still didn't get it) what took me 3 days in PHP you showed me how to do in 5.11 minutes well maybe more like 30 minutes thank you again. PS I watched StreamWriter first well done! It's nice to know you are still helping people a year later. Have you tried VBE that comes with Excel yet?

how can you read a specific line inside the text file e.g. if i only wanted to read something from the start of "some more crap to type" and also how could you make the another textbox and be able to choose to have just a single word from a certain line appear in that textbox? any help would be great

what if I wanted to manage my text file as a "resources", in order to manage it independently from the location of the text file? In short, how can I open and read my text file (ie. "garibaldi.txt" ) if it was added in "Resources" folder, under 'solution explorer' section ? I typed: Dim objReader As New System.IO.StreamReader(My.Resources.garibaldi) objreader = System.IO.File.OpenText() TextBox1.Text = objreader.ReadLine() but an exception is launched.Thanks in advance
