He can speak and read Japanese? how did he even have the time to study?

he can speak and understand japanese (to a degree) but he cannot read most japanese characters besides hiragana. What he does is uses the google translate app on the app store and takes a picture of the paragraph. This gets translated into english for him to read. Also i believe he has said that he is an active learner and learns japanese through interacting and using the language itself, which he does through the VCR events and his japanese friends
