Oho, diving deeper into the JP side of vtubing! Nice! So, VCR is an event organized by two differents orgs, those being Vault Room (a clothing store) and Crazy Raccoon (an E-Sports organization, which also aids in the organization of various streamer tournaments, like the VSaikyo or CR Cup tournaments.) There have been multiple VCR events so far and GTA is always very popular; but they've also done VCR Rust, Minecraft and Ark. These events usually last between 1-2 weeks. I don't actually know what the requirements to join are, but likely by invitation. Besides entertainment, they also serve as opportunities to network, and interacting with people you don't know is encouraged. For example, Aki Rosenthal has followed a very interesting path ever since her first participation in the VCR Ark, leading to her befriending other vtubers outside Hololive, which led to her now being invited into multiple competitive events, like League of Legends tournaments, Street Fighter 6 tournaments, and even became a team captain in the Apex VSaikyo S6 this year. VCR events see vtubers from all over the JP scene, so you tend to see Hololive, Holostars, Nijisanji, VSPO, Neo-Porte, Indies and many other vtubers; but also regular streamers and pro-players, and sometimes even voice actors and models. A lot of these vtubers tend to be the ones you can usually find competing in tournaments, but not necessarily all of them. These events are a lot of fun, and the variety of personalities keeps it fresh, because you never know what stories and new relationships might form as a result. Because of this, these events are strategically designed so as to create a dependency between players. For example, in the VCR Minecraft, they created a class system in which every participant had to take up a job with different abilities, meaning that no one could be self-sufficient and had to interact with others. In VCR GTA, you will see different streamers do different things: some will be medics, some will be mechanics, some police, and many being criminals too, among many other things (for example, Aruran opened up a Gyaru cafe). As the days progress, the action also tends to pick up more as the players acquire better weaponry and resources to do bigger heists. For example, Towa has her own gang in VCR GTA 3, and she did two successful big heists in it. There are usually many storylines happening all at once, and it's all player driven, so it all comes down to the streamers themselves to create the content. Fortunately, these events are very good at that. 5:27 The vtuber who punched Laplus is Komori Met, from VSPO. She's very sweet, but also funnily air-headed. She's VERY afraid of frogs. She regularly participates in competitive vtuber events. 6:07 That is Itoi Toi, a vtuber from Neo-Porte. Also funnily air-headed. Very adorable. 7:16 That is Kuzuha, the biggest Nijisanji vtuber. You might know him also for having won the Apex VSaikyo S4 and S6. He's a staple in these sort of events. 7:48 That is Tooko, a former indie vtuber affiliated with an E-Sports org called REJECT. She's participated in several competitive events before, but VCR GTA 3 seems to have allowed a lot of people to start noticing her more. She's really cute! 10:41 That is Takamiya Rion, a Nijisanji member who absolutely loves Sword Art Online and wants to marry Kirito. 18:52 Ao-kun's journey to becoming an actress is hilarious! Her storyline has to be one of my favorites in this event. The VCR events are absolute peak. And VCR GTA 3 alone has provided many amazing moments, especially as the storylines develop in subsequent days. I hope you enjoy it! They're a great way to get to know many JP vtubers outside of Hololive.
