If you want solution here it is So, Let direction of v be towards north N V slows down (θ)* in the easterly direction and magnitude is V/2 Resolve V/2 into Vertical and horizontal They have said in the question that one of the compononets is V/4 in the same direction as the original V, hence vertical component = V/4 Vertical Component = (v/2)*sin(θ) (v/2)*cos(θ) = V/4 sin(θ) = 1/2 (θ) = sin-1(1/2) (θ) = 30* Deviated angle = 90 - (θ) = 90 - 30 = 60* You can also solve by assuming V is towards east and in that case youll directly find deviated angle by performing cos-1(1/2) = (θ) (θ) = 60*
