What a fantastic rebuild and restoration of this iconic machine, i bet the standard of engineering exceeds the original. Fabulous attention to detail and hope we see more of it in future parades.

I think you'll find it's all new, no restoration or rebuilding involved including the motor.

deejeenee I totally agree with the motor being all new, there probably isn't much of the original of the rest of the machine here also.It would be interesting to know the true facts.

Derek, just search for Vee Two Hailwood Replica and you'll see a few articles about it. I think they were going to be about $170,000 US.

@@derekbond3512 it's not the original one. The full (!!!!!) original is the property of Larry Auriana, restored by Rory Simpson (Mister Bevel) based in Montpellier, France. He restored this bike for John McGuinness's parade lap during the TT this year. The original one is a bit different (some parts) than the Vee Two Replica, because of the big crash of Mike Hailwood during the Donington race, after the TT and Mallory Park. The Vee Two Replica is exactly the same one as the bike who crossed the line on the TT, june 3rd 1978.

I don’t know what it is, but it looks just like what was on Mike the Bike’s exhaust in ‘78.

I believe the exhaust "silencers" on the original Hailwood bike were knocked up from old Triumph parts.

I'd sell my soul for one of these, but it wouldn't be enough! I wonder what power it makes?

Not a lot. The MHR was a production Ducatii

@@jackgreen9062 This is a rep of the original Hailwood race bike though, not the eventual Ducati made replica. That had the same engine as the 900SS, which maybe produced 70 bhp at the most. This Vee Two rep ust be making a fair bit more than that, upto 95 bhp I would think. I had a 900SS in the early 80s, it seemed fast at the time, but even by the late 80s, quite ordinary middle weight bikes were making more power. An interesting comparison is the Suzuki SV 650, only just out of production but been around for over 10 years, that makes about 75 bhp, from a 650 V twin!
