I considered transitioning to a vegan lifestyle April 2016, and when I asked my boyfriend at the time about it he was like "well what are WE going to eat? Why would you want to?" clearly against it. We ended up breaking up shortly after (for other reasons lol) and then I made the change! I love it so much and I recently met this guy who isn't vegan at all, but is super open minded! He calls restaurants for me to make sure they have vegan options/can things vegan. Even though I've told him I don't have any issues with him eating meat, he tries to eat as vegetarian or vegan as possible when he's with me (usually lol). I really enjoy your videos because as lame as it probably sounds, I always figured I'd have to date a vegan because no one else would want to be with me lol

Kallyn Michelle the same thing happened to me...my long-term boyfriend wasn't supportive of me being a vegetarian and got defensive when I mentioned me trying to go vegan or even him trying to do meatless Monday...long story short, we broke up recently and I feel...free I guess. I just recently transitioned to vegan and I couldn't be any happier!

Ahhh I love this channel sm! I know I’m quite late to leaving a comment but I just wanted to give a little explanation behind the reasoning of not using garlic or onions in the food at Govinda. The owner is a more religious hindu and in our religion when it comes to making food as offering to god we don’t put onions or garlic in the food because we want it to be pure and not have the smell. But most indian dishes do include onions and garlic!

Currently in Dublin and went to Yogism for breakfast to try the buckwheat pancakes and met the lovely woman who explained their coconut yogurt...she gave my family and I little samples of an Indian mango smoothie with the coconut yogurt! She was so sweet. We then went to Cornucopia for lunch and I had a savory pie with mashed potatoes, kale, fennel and cauliflower and a chickpea salad with cauliflower, coriander and tahini sauce...absolutely amazing. And to top it all off when we were walking around the city we ran into a vegan booth with locals who were advocating animal and human rights! Highly recommend coming to this vegan-friendly city 👍🏻

When you guys get a chance, the first episode of season 3 of Chef's Table on netflix is about a vegan Buddhist monk and her cooking. Similar to Hare Krishna, a lot of Buddhist monks abstain from garlic, onion, and a few other aromatic vegetables. It's a really fascinating documentary. Edited: Changed season 2 to season 3

Lucy Rutherford You may have already seen but Bonny Rebecca and Sweet Simple Vegan just posted the best places to eat vegan in Sydney. I live in Newcastle and there are some awesome places (and beaches) here too. I just traveled to Melbourne by myself a couple of weeks ago and I suggest not using apps like Happy Cow until you have to because I found all these places I wouldn't have if I hadn't just walk around. Safe travels 😄🍽

@prettypurplekao7 жыл бұрын
Shannon Peace I live in the south. Please don't remind me. ;.; actually though Orlando Florida has a super cute epicenter of vegan food. It's a small and quaint area of Orlando far from Disney, but it feels like home!

Yume i lived in southern Missouri and Tennessee. they acted like a vegetarian was super strange. Back 9 years ago a vegan would not have stood a chance. I hope it is different now.
@prettypurplekao7 жыл бұрын
Shannon Peace I was actually recently in Knoxville and the options were slim pickings for eating out, but they weren't not existent! We went a pizza place with vegan options called Tomato Head, and they had hands down the best pizza I have ever had including my own hand made ones. Of course the pizza was also $33, and they upcharge a whopping $5 for vegan cheese. Chattanooga has an amazing place now called Cashew. I imagine Missouri is a lost cause however. Maybe someone stationed there will chime in. Was even able to find a surprising amount of vegan friendly or totally vegan places in NOLA! I complain even though I am quite close to Atlanta. It is no LA, but it could definitely be worse! You definitely still need to be strong willed to be a vegan in the south! But my family's cultural identity is very fluid or nonexistent. They make traditional southern foods, but don't put any unnecessary emphasis on food and family being synonymous. I was never made to feel as if refusing the food was refusing my family and my culture. I know a lot of vegans have this issue! :(
