This is one place I will be eating at when I come back to Vegas. I think gumbo and gritzs are so delish. If a place can fry catfish that looks that good, I'm all for it. I would like to try fried chicken thighs there, bet it good too. Someone said they have not ate fried chicken for breakfast. I have, because my moms family ate fried chicken, white creamy gravy and biscuits during the depression at breakfast . My mom lived on a stock farm, they had to eat something hearty. They worked picking corn and anything else that needed doing. ❤❤❤

So much good food in the north area. Me and the wife just tried Lumberjacks off of Craig. I was starving after having to fast for a blood draw. The portions were huge and the food was very good. I love catfish and will definitely try this spot. Thank you for the videos.

It wasn't until I was an adult that the term "soul food" became part of the vernacular. To me it's the same I ate growing up on a hard scrabble farm in Georgia. To me it was poor people's food. Never had a waffle, in fact never heard of them. We certainly didn't eat chicken in the morning. Grits were for morning and ...with grits?...nope. I remember setting at a huge table with about a dozen relatives and a huge pot of collards and several pones of cornbread and that was the entire meal. I'm glad you're able to enjoy the food and I likely would too as long as no sugar was in the cornbread.
@bestfoodreviewroadtrip76122 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your story. That's what we love about different styles of food as they have "real" history entwined into the menu (with sometimes a waffle attached 😉)

That sounds incredible! We'll try that at home soon. Thank you so much
@ohdogwow22 ай бұрын
I haven't had good soul food in years. I live in the America USA southwest. When a good restaurant pops up, there isn't enough people to show up to keep it going and they go out of business. Usually. I hypothesize it's because to make good handcrafted soul food it costs more than people want to pay. But what do I know.
@bestfoodreviewroadtrip76122 ай бұрын
That makes sense The profit margins for restaurants are low, and risk is high Sadly, it makes it difficult for many great dining ideas to launch

I like it that they do the chicken in a basket. I hate it when they put the chicken on top of the waffle and then add syrup on top of the chicken.

@TRMV Peppermill so over rated imo. Very expensive for what it is. Blueberry hill 10x better imo. I could probably name 30 spots better than Peppermill and cheaper. I had 1228 main the other day and that was excellent. Baby stacks is ok. Pancakes are like a crazy dessert!
@TRMV2 ай бұрын
@ that is your opinion, everyone has one.
@VivaLasVegasX2 ай бұрын
@TRMV ok so Peppermill is like $20+ for a biscuit cut in half with gravy, no sides. Blueberry hill biscuits and gravy are mid teens and include bacon and eggs. Like I said Peppermill is probably the most over hyped restaurant in Vegas. I've ate at around 300 spots.

The secret to not having to taste the “bitterness” of greens, put the cornbread in with the greens until the cornbread is crumbs in the greens. It tastes better that way. 🥬 🍞
