the single best way i save money is by only staying midweek. when i go to vegas, i go sunday-thursday. lines are shorter, rooms are cheap/free (although i am a gambler), and usually plane tickets are cheaper. i know taking off work for some people doesn’t work, but for people with flexible schedules like me, it is probably the single biggest way to save.

As someone who goes to vegas every month, I can tell you the “$20 trick” is absolutely real. And works every time for me. But the catch is it’s not the $20 trick anymore it’s the $50 trick or the $100 trick depending on how long your stay is, the upgrade you want, the hotel your at, the availability... you just gotta think about it and do it right not just assume $20 or the same amount of money will work for every place every time. Sometimes we tip $20 and get an amazing upgrade but it’s because it was a weekday and it’s a slow season. Or we go somewhere else and have to tip $100 for the upgrade we want because it’s a busy Saturday. sometimes they will say they won’t have any upgrades available, sure, but that’s usually because you’re trying to upgrade with a $20 on a busy Saturday. Still saves you a shit ton of money but sometimes you have to adjust the tip based on what you want. It’s not hard and it DOES work if you do it right. 🤷🏼♀️

Book through the hotel is a great tip. Also check the prices of the rooms, not signed into your rewards membership. I recently booked with Caesar’s using my rewards for a discount. A few weeks later checked the prices and seen that it was cheaper as a non member. I called the hotel and they did a price adjustment. Just keep checking before you stay (signed in and signed out) to see if the rate decreased 👍

Couple of comments: 1. Gambling with a rewards card is a fast track to comp or discounted hotel rooms. My first visit to Vegas was in September 2019. I got an MGM M-Life card, and a month after my visit, I got a comp offer for Excalibur (just paid the resort fee). I can stay there 3 nights for just $ 120 ! 2. Most of the strip hotel rooms don't include a refrigerator, microwave or coffee maker. I bought my own 1-cup coffee maker. I put the coffee maker and coffee packets in my suitcase and then set it up in my room. Much more convenient and cheaper than going downstairs to Starbucks, waiting in line and paying $ 6 for coffee.

Last November I was walking through 4 Queens after a light snack and a super friendly lady came up to me, handed me her card and said if I need a ride to the strip, it would only be $25.00. So, I told her to meet me and my brother at the valet area at Fremont. She picked us up and we had fun talking all the way to the M&M store. Before we got out of car, I gave her $35.00 and she told me No its only $25.00. I gave her the extra $10.00 for saving us time, her friendly spirit and honesty. I got ripped off by a cab driver one time who was milking his fare by going the longest route possible! You are right, Uber and Lyft are good but sometimes by chance you do come across some amazing people.

I live in Vegas, and if you want to save money, then stay off the strip as much as possible, because the strip is going to gouge visitors. Also stay in a hotel off the strip, and eat off the strip. Sam's Town is a very nice hotel off the strip. Go to the buffets, and diners off the strip too. Look into an Air B & B, and see about specials on rental cars. I had a friend that even though she lived in Vegas, got a terrific deal on a rental car, and once she got a rental car for free! She didn't want to drive her car to some of Vegas's upscale parts, so she rented an upscale car. Also, if you know anyone who lives in Las Vegas, see if they'll purchase tickets for you to shows, or whatever, because Las Vegas residents get great discounts on shows, and such. Vegas is a stupidly expensive place, so even the residents have to know how to save, and watch their money.

$20 trick has worked for me EVERY single time. I always get upgraded, buffet tickets, strip views.... just about anything in the capacity of the person checking me in. Its one of the best "tricks" I recommend to anyone going to Vegas.
@jpark282 жыл бұрын
I've never tried it, you just slide them a 20 with your ID and ask if there are any upgrades available?
@yellow88si2 жыл бұрын
@@jpark28 Don't "Ask". Credit card and ID with a $20 folded in between. Present at check-in. They will put your card to one side ID to the other and $20 on the counter "if allowed". Some will pocket it ASAP if they are not allowed to take tips but that has NEVER stopped me from getting an upgrade of some sort. Nothing to be said. They ALL know. They then frantically search for anything that they can give you. Like I said I've had buffet tickets, room upgrades, show tickets, food credit late check out. Just last week I got $50 credit to any restaurant in Aria because they didn't have any better rooms than what I booked at the time. There's nothing to be said. If they can't do anything they very nicely hand your $20 back to you. I think its all about how you present yourself and most importantly don't "ASK" that just shows you are newb and most probably kicks you out of the $20 insider category. Its just an unspoken truth on the strip. Edit: This is also why I NEVER use the mobile check-in. Sure its easy but you forego the opportunity for any perk that tiny $20 will bring you. Well worth the wait in line.
