Thinly slice radishes and marinate them in lime juice, olive oil and salt for 3-6hours in the fridge. Makes them much tastier. You can use them to top salads, soups or sandwiches

It is a shame for the damage done to your garden by frost/voles/mice and flea beetles, but I think it is important to highlight these things because if you are going to grow plants in your garden such things do happen and it is in this way we gain experiences and become better gardeners and to see it happens to others gives us all heart to carry on. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing the July tour of your garden.

I learned from one gardener (I think James P) that birds mainly like berries for the water, so he did two things: put out bird baths and painted some red rocks which he placed out a month or so before the berries developed so the birds “learned” that the berries wouldn’t give them water and then they left the berries alone once they came along

Thank you for making this video showing us what you are growing in your garden and so many different things perfect and the video you just made had a nice lady giving great advice on how to grow one plant with another to help keep bugs away great thinking my friend I used chilli to grow in between keep bugs away and I just add chpped up chilli to water in a spray bottle and all bugs go away from anything I spray it on and I use bicarbonate of soda in a sprwy bottle for any mold or mildew build up around the place. Chilli flakes only cost a few dollars and add 2 or 3 tablespoons to a big container of water wait 24 hours the whole bin or whatever you use for watering and spray bottles to be refilled with over time and water anywhere you are having trouble like the carrots and they will never return. Everything hate chilli my friend take care and stay safe and keep up the great work God bless you and your family and friends peace be with you all.

All my radish bolted, but then again I didn't water them and we had two months of sweltering heat and no rain. Sacrificed for tomatoes, the choices you have to make when a few rainbarrels are all the water you got.
@mollyphemister60754 жыл бұрын
I have had my greatest flea beetle struggles when I've had too much N rich compost in a bed for the crop in question to handle. You mentioned that it was drier than usual and that you were associating the intensity of the flea beetles with the drier conditions. Given the ease with which N will wash out of a bed in high rain seasons, you might be seeing a variant of what I was seeing: maybe your N is staying put and thus there's more of it / too much of it for that particular crop.

For a few years now I have been putting out shallow dishes of water at different heights all around the veggie garden for birds and other predators ,they have kept the flea beatle ,slugs and snails at bay ,voles still a bit of a problem but have seen 2 Owls ,so can't use poison
@valeriehowden4714 жыл бұрын
I feel the vole pain. Have lost blueberry plants, a strawberry bed and perennial herbs etc etc to them over the past 3 years. We have a pair of the buzzers but they are far from effective so we resorted to bait this spring. When I found out they also carry Lyme Disease, I didn't feel so bad. I love animals but this was the final straw. Catnip is perennial in our area so I planted to encourage the local kitties - none of which have used the raised beds as litterboxes. After the frost this morning, a week later than the usual, I hope flea beetles will be minimal.

Be careful with the lupins as they do like to spread themselves out a little like Japanese anemones. They will add nitrogen into the soil though which is a bonus and they are beautiful.
