Where is the casteism aspect discussed? Didn’t seem to be a factor in the video.

About why Jains or any Indian dharma/ religions eating vegetarian, you may try to paint it at casteist or paint vegetarianism in a bad light, but it was only because it’s just cruel and Indian religions centre on every living organism having god. Other than that, Rishi Agastya, one of the most profound scientists who also gave the world electric cell, clearly mentions 3 different enzymes released just before an animal is killed which is now backed by Manchester university since 2012. Separate food for halal is seen in almost 28000 universities in US for muslims, and I don’t really think it should be such a problem, even in counties like UAE, especially Dubai, we aren’t supposed to eat outside our homes because of the Ramzan fasting. This doesn’t mean they’re oppressing non muslims, it’s just sensible to respect their culture when we’re there. Also please don’t do the job of NYT or Ndtv and bring casteism into something which doesn’t have any linkage to this. Btw I’m a non vegetarian.

I'm a prospective student, so correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the primary reason behind FLAME's vegetarian rule linked to animal cruelty and not religious norms?
@dipassignment60372 жыл бұрын
Having been a student I can assure you it is related to religious norms. One of the interviewees was a member of the animal welfare group, and they will tell you that animals weren't very well treated on campus. Activists in India also often disguise their islamophobic/casteist beliefs around purity and pollution and vegetarianism with the language of animal cruelty as well though

I'm sorry but what exactly was the purpose of that 'vegetarian' monologue of sorts? Would you have the same prejudices against a Muslim for consuming ONLY halal meat because that's his custom? Would you do that to a sikh who's custom commands him to eat 'jhatka' meat? Why do you want to make dietary practices sound so regressive when literally every other religion so strictly commands its followers to follow it?

vegetarians are the most discriminatory people on earth see how indian vegetarians have created the word 'nonveg' (way to demonize some thing : just add non in front of it )and 'pureveg' like, what is so 'pure' about it?

First of all dear Neelima. Let me make it very clear to you that Jainism is not a caste. It's a religion. Just like Islam or Hinduism. Secondly, actual exclusion or divisiveness is caused by you uploading such a video which is presented in such a manner which is bound to cause polarization. I will be very honest, if you feel that Flame University is not democratic or less democratic, then go to some other University. It's a DEMOCRATIC country. You can go anywhere and study. No body is forcing you. And plus if someone wants to have non veg food they can go out and eat it as mentioned in your video. It's not that those students are going to get expelled or anything. Before quoting Democracy and humanity and equality please make sure, you are a humane person. As gandhi ji rightfully said that "The development of any country is based on how they treat their animals". So yes, going by this very profound quote by our father of the nation, Flame University is easily one advanced thinking Universities in the world. Peace out✌️

It’s great that the flame University caters to the jain minority present in the country but I also think that it doesn’t mean that you should exclude all the other people in the uni that want to consume non-vegetarian because it is their university as well so i feel the option should be given for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian
@rushilparmar573 жыл бұрын
@@geetanshikaushik9708 I absolutely agree with you. But if you saw the video you might know that the non vegetarians can eat outside and come inside, no problem with that. But allowing non vegetarian food inside the campus will not make sense, considering the fact that the central message of the founders and the Fundamental basis of this university is to spread awareness and consciousness about animal love and welfare, rather than killing them for food within the campus. And plus i think we are missing the point that if anyone thinks that this university is dictating them and creating roadblocks in their "free flowing" social lives. Then there are 1000's of other universities in this country, Flame is just one of them, don't take admission in it, if they feel that it's hampering their vital protein filled bodily health. So remember it's a democratic country. And one should not blame a private university for doing things their way.

Okay so the exclusion comes with only non vegetarians being forced to spend an extra buck from their already meagre college savings to go out and eat non veg food. Vegetarians aren't paying any extra. The casteism aspect comes into play when the strictly vegetarian Brahmins are being catered to. I'm assuming you don't notice all of this because you sound rather smug and comfortable and very much like an upper caste vegetarian who hasn't faced any discrimination and hasn't had to deal with the extra irritation of being excluded just for eating non veg. So on top of the ridiculously expensive fees one spends to stay in Flame, one must also spend extra money every month just to eat non veg food? You don't see the exclusion in that? You don't see how that's going to be a problem or create divisiveness within the university? The exclusion is so extreme that students aren't even allowed to bring it into the campus to eat in their own space, or cook for themselves or maybe even carry it in packaging. This springs from the casteist notion that non veg is "impure". Guess who eats non veg the most? Mostly Shatriyas and lower cast people. For many people, non veg is an integral part of their culture. It makes a big part of their celebrations. And they must go outside and eat because the university treats it like its a sin. You just told me you are casteist without telling me you're casteist. Congratulations.

@@nishias7269 First of all I am a proud Jain. And the reason I am proud is because my religion is not about peace, It is Peace. Nobody and please remember this, nobody is forcing you or anyone else to take admission in this college. It's a Private College, not a government college. There is a person who has opened it to earn profit, and whatever he wants to do he will because at the end he pays taxes for the profits earned. He doesn't mind it, I being a jain don't mind it. Even though my religion is constantly neglected for decades now when it comes to government minority benefits, but still we don't complaint, because Jainism teaches us Jiyo aur Jeene Do. Yes, it's a jain saying. And speaking of brahmanical patriarchy, the owner Mr. Nemish Shah is himself a Jain. So i am pretty sure the question of Brahmanism gets eradicated because the owner is a Jain. And he doesn't mind if he earns less profits because of non veg exclusion. Why do you care. There are 1000's of pvt colleges in this country. Please go and take admission somewhere else. Rather than complaining about this one. Because trust me Nishi AS, even if you give Mr. Shah 1000's of crores, he will not allow non veg food, because he is a proud and staunch jain and I am a proud and staunch jain. And this is a personal and in the case of college a private matter. Nobody is being forced to take admissions here. Thank you. Jai Jinendra 🙏

@@rushilparmar57 wow, you really don't get how you sound right now, do you? You don't get just how exclusionary you sound? You do realise that Flame is one of the few institutes in the country that has a very unique course structure, and is a Liberal arts institute? So only vegetarians can reap the benefits of it, but poor us non vegetarians who want a good education but don't want to deal with exclusion and casteism and tone deaf Jains like yourself have to settle for less satisfying courses and lesser institutes, huh? You really do not see your own bigotry and it's quite hilarious to me how you say all of that with such confidence and erect strawmen totally ignoring the points I made, and totally ignoring the communities I spoke for and spoke about in favour of talking about "proud" you are to be Jain. And you said its about peace, but you appear to not have watched the video. The woman in the video talked about the college isn't very animal friendly. You can't feed dogs veg food. You can't force your religion on them. That's not peace, that's animal abuse. So... Tell me just how "peaceful" the college really is. Do you really practice what you preach? I have Jain friends. Even THEY have not been this exclusionary or abusive to animals. They would never force dogs to eat veg food just because they are vegetarians. They have the integrity to practice what they preach instead of just acting "proud" and doing all the terrible things under the banner of "peace". The institute which is one of the very few to have Liberal arts, and have so many opportunities should also try and be more Liberal. Just because its a private university, it won't exempt it from being discriminatory and exclusionary. Muslims and Christians eat non veg too. They are also being discriminated against. Being part of a minority doesn't mean you can't be discriminatory or exclusionary and you pretty much proved it. "ooh, we refuse to change our discrimination so you go somewhere else with less opportunities". Yeah keep talking and proving just how exclusionary and tone deaf you are. People like you are the reason this country doesn't progress because you're allergic to change.

If vegetarianism has to be associated with casteism, I guess, I would not qualify to be a casteist. Not that I am, but yes, it goes on to exhibit your stupidity here. I am a non-vegetarian but I am not stupid enough to ignore the importance of a plant based diet. If that comes from the religion, why not! what's the big deal in it?
