No they didn't. Pay close attention and Vegito had the edge the whole time. But gotta take into fact that their opponent has immortality and also SSJB made fusion time run out quicker. Without immortality, this fight would have been over in seconds. Even Zamasu admits he's more powerful but still not a "God"

The only downside of this fight was it being woefully brief. Vegito had four and a half episodes against Buu, so needed at least two for the fight against Zamasu. I suppose brevity was a burden for much of the arc, but the only time it felt like a significant lacking was here. We've been waiting like 20 years, man! Give us more than a few minutes!

In all honesty, I can't just see either gogeta or vegito struggle against their opponent. Their purpose being created is as a last straw hence to purely dominate the fight just like how the others potara/fusion scene.
