Theres a fun little easter egg re: the hat. As long as Hannah is wearing it, she isnt hurt. Like, even Becky, a trained nurse, somehow misses a stationary body and stabs herself with the sedative. When Linda takes the hat, Hannah is no longer protected. Jamie (as Charlotte) takes the hat and puts it on and is the only one of the Wiggly cultists to escape the mall.

This is one of my favorite closing numbers. For Hannah, she’s having visions, seeing all the possibilities - tomorrow will come, tomorrow won’t come. She’s facing her own kind of horror. The others don’t know any of that. For them, it’s like they’re waking out of a nightmare to find it wasn’t a dream at all. It has a very “oh god what have we done, whose blood is on my hands” sort of quality. They’ve witnessed or even committed atrocities and are trying to come to terms with that as well as the further fear and uncertainty of the state of the world, clinging to and comforting each other with hands that may well have killed someone earlier. What if tomorrow comes, and you have to face the future and continue to live?

I don't know if you even wanna know, but if you haven't recognized Wiggly's voice yet(I hadn't), it's a pretty fun fact to look up and find out which ever-talented individual was behind that madness 😂 Spies are forever is excellent - highly recommend! And yes, it will thoroughly introduce you to all that Curt Mega has to offer. Regarding Nightmare Time, just wanna warn you that the first episode can be a bit of a quality of life nightmare. There's tech issues, lagging and not so great sound quality etc, while they were figuring out how to do the format. Just wanna say to not be alarmed, the quality QUICKLY ramps up after ep1. Hope you enjoy!

I’m really glad you considered the fact that the new VHS will only be out for free for a limited time and then possibly become purchasable. As much as I would LOVE to see your reaction to it, I would very much prefer that you wait until it’s available for free permanently, if the time for that comes!!

Spies are Forever from Tin Can Bros (off shoot of Starkid) needs to be high on the list! Gives you Curt introduction but also if you are a Mel Brooks fan you’ll love it! Also recommend solve it squad by them, it’s just fun! But can go lower on the list while you go through the StarKid. I’m not the biggest fan of nightmare time, some of the stories are crazy and to me sub par but they are a must watch because of lore! The first one should be further down l, might be before Black Friday actually? It was done during Covid so it might be a little janky in the beginning while they figure out the format so have patience

Please definitely watch at least Nightmare Time 1 before watching Nerdy Prudes Must Die!! Honestly though, it would be preferable to watch both 1 and 2, but i understand that's a lot. So if you wanna watch it after NT1 that's cool too, but definitely watch at least NT1 first because there's some stuff there that you will need context!

Yeah I watched npmd without watching nightmare time (and I still haven't seen them actually) and it's still enjoyable but a bit of context missing regarding the Lord's in black I plan to watch them soon tho

Hi Veggie! The first episode of Nightmare Time was livestreamed to KZbin, so it’s under ‘live’ instead of their normal videos - KZbin changed the way these things are displayed. That’s why you couldn’t find it at first. But as you already saw, it’s luckily easily available through the playlist!

Count of Hatchetfield residents from TGWDLM that show up in this alternate universe Hatchetfield of Black Friday: Paul, Emma, Homeless Guy, and Man in a Hurry showed up in earlier scenes. In the last scenes we also get: : Ted Charlotte Pete Bill Mr Davidson And introducing Curt Mega as the Woodworker Who Adopted Peanut, the Pocket Squirrel Let me know who I missed.

Spies are forever is genuinely one of my favourite musicals of all time and definitely a worthy watch. The Tin Can Bros are like a brother group to starkid and so spies are forever has joey ricter , lauren lopez, brian rosenthal (sorry if i butchered that spelling), joe walker ,and curt mega in the cast (all familar faces to you) its set in the 50s in cold war us/europe and has a subplot of the nephew of hitler trying to bring back the nazis after ww2, however the character and his songs were written and performed by jewish actors which feels like important context to know before going into the show looking forward to if you do watch it though!

Wiggly will definitely be back in the rest of the Hatchetfield series, not saying when or where, just know that he will be back. As for the mysterious buyer who wanted $7000 for a doll, their identity is not really important. It's more about showing how insane the fervor had gotten around Wiggly, mirroring some past real-life toy mania. I was a sixth grader when the Tickle-Me-Elmo craze was on. This was released in 2019 and the political commentary is still very, very relevant, unfortunately.

I don't think StarKid intends to charge for access to their new Christmas Carols. They uploaded it to drum up interest in their live performance of the show happening in Chicago in a week...that's when it'll go unlisted for a bit. But I'm confident the video will be up for free viewing permanently by christmas.

Okay i know you get a ton of recommendations on how to watch this stuff and everyone thinks they're right but i will say this. Not all Nightmare time episodes are necessary to fully enjoy Nerdy prudes and if you tried to watch all of them before NP it'll take forever BUT there are at least two I see as a must watch before NP. "Witch in the web" for lore and "abstinence camp" for characters. For time purposes i would watch those two first THEN nerdy prudes must die THEN the rest of nightmare time. Especially if you intersperse these with older projects you wouldn't get to nerdy prudes for years man and that be unfortunate.

Spies are Forever would give you Curt Mega in a slightly more sane role. For VHS, I'd suggest watching it on your own time and doing a shorter review with a few clips of your favourite bits. If/when it gets a permanent release, you can do the thing in full, since you'll probably have forgotten most of it between now and then anyway. It may be permanent in time for next Christmas, who knows. For Season 1 of Nightamre Time, ep 1 is two stories that can be split and handled seperately, but for episode 2 you don't want much, if any, time to pass between the two stories.

Oh yes, you are right, I did not think about that when I suggested you watched VHSCC :( I think maybe you should watch it on your own? Like not for a reaction, if you want to, of course, since I feel you should not limit your fan experience to only things you can react to. Also, yes Hanah's actress played Tim! And Nightmare Time 1 was a live, so check in that tab! I'm so glad you decided to watch it :´D And finally, Spies are forever it's amazing, it was made by The Tincan Brothers, who are like a brother group to Starkid, created by Joey, Brian (Quirrel), and Corey (He worked behind the scenes with Starkid since the very beginning), Curt Mega made his "debut" to us as an audience with them with that play, so everybody was super excited to finally see him in a Starkid show with Black Friday.

Maybe a solution to watching the newer VHS Christmas Carols would be to do a Live stream, leave it up for sbout a day or so, yhen take it down and file it away for a later date. I don't think StarKid would really mind you reacting to it anyway, but that could be a possible solution. One reason they posted it was to help get people excited for this year's performance of it in Chicago. Hoping not to spoil too much, but there are two additional stories, plenty more songs, new characters (of course), some cast changes due to availabilty, and a couple other changes. It's tup to you, but it would be a shame if you didnt at least see it before it is gone.

VHS Christmas Carols: This year is the 5th anniversary of this show, and it will open it's 4th live staging in Chicago November 21st. Over the years, it has undergone many changes...most notably the addition of a first act consisting of the musical retelling of two additional classic Christmas tales: The Gift of the Magi (O. Henry) and The Little Match Girl (Hans Christian Anderson). StarKid's latest upload is last year's live performance. The second act of this newest version is a restaging of the show you reviewed last year...with new casting, set design, and choreography. They also tweaked it a bit to incorporate the first two stories and make a cohesive 90 minute show. If you do react to it, you won't be alone...I've already watched two other youtubers react to it. But do what you want...there is A LOT of other StarKid content you still have to (get to) cover!

Black Friday took a couple viewings for me but it's now got some of my absolute favorite music in the series. Lex, Tom, and Hannah's songs in this section are all top tier.

I have a theory, (not super original) that the ending hanna is seeing the different timelines, (maybe why the characters from TGWDLM appear as well) and she sees the futures where they die, live and maybe, idk if its too out there, they like, jump forward in time??? So are you doing Nightmare Time next or are you just jumping straight into Nerdy Prudes Must Die? Nightmare Time gives some hefty lore for NPMDm but there are so many episodes that it's gonna take you quite a while to get there. I really also hope to see you watch Starkid's The Trail To Oregon and the Tin Can Bro's Spies Are Forever (which has pretty much all of Starkid in it).

So, I'm not sure if it was ever officially confirmed, but it's pretty commonly accepted in the fandom that Hatchetfield was nuked at the end of Black Friday. Also, I think that you might've confused Chris Kringle and Krampus, since that's a scary "Chrismassy" character, that starts with Kr-, and it's quite well known in Europe (well, at least in Central Europe). And if you decide to react to the new version of VHS Christmas Carol, you might post just your reaction without overlaying it over the original and add time-stamps of the original. That way people can play both videos at once and you won't post the original. I think you've already done that in the past :).

If you do Nightmare Time Seasons 1 and 2 it’s gonna take foreverrrr to get to Nerdy Prudes Must Die tbh. I think you should watch a few episodes (I never finished season one so I can’t recommend any from that season that are important) and Abstinence Camp from Season 2 before watching NPMD.

Nope watch them all. Don't mind if it takes forever. Just cause it was during covid so they had to make it zoom doesn't mean you can skip it. You wouldn't just skip tgwdlm to get to black friday. And yes that would be doing the same thing. My biggest regret when it comes to starkid as a whole is watching npmd before the entirety of nt. You need ALL of the context. It is the same as watching black friday without seeing tgwdlm. Different story and universe, sure. But you miss on the HUNDREDS of references and context that is needed. And also imo nt is way better than npmd but that's just me. The rest is not arguable though. Just a fact.

Great reaction mate 👍 I wouldn't worry too much about the order you watch everything in. Although I do say that as someone who accidentally watched the 3 musicals backwards, then Nightmare Time the first time I saw them 😂 Nightmare Time S1 are livestreams that are a bit scuffed like its not bad, but you can tell they were struggling doing it online. Nightmare Time S2 is the same format but more professionally done.

I don’t know if another VHS Christmas Carol reaction would be super worth it anyway… You’ve watched the biggest part of it already… That said, it’s probably still worth a watch as it adds a bit and it’s a slightly different cast… Maybe you could react to just the beginning? But yeah, if they’re planning to take it down and charge, it might be best not to… Just in case it doesn’t get a full free release on KZbin though, I suggest you at least watch it for yourself if you’re interested… Or I suppose you could pay for it later if you want to support them.
