BTW. Darius is kinda like Vi. He grew up as orphan on the streets. Also he has a crazy sibling. But he was noticed by emperor Darkwill and begun to serve in Noxian army. And after General Swain took over Noxus and changed ruling system to Trifarik( basically Triumvirate, that was created by Cesar(Three rulers)) Darius became one of the rulers of Noxus

Jayce is not from Freljord but it is common at piltover to organise expeditions in other areas of Runeterra. It can be pretty profitable because of the antics and artifacts that can be found ,but remain quite dangerous. Jayce and his parents must have been part of such expedition that clearly didn't turn well. It's quite possible that jayce's father died during the expedition after an attack of Winter's Claw raiders .Jayce and his mother must have been the last survivors of the expedition ,fled and been caught in a storm.

Braum is the Heart of the Freljord for a reason! Also, Noxus *claims* to be a meritocracy - but as with a lot of systems, the most power-hungry tend to rise to the top and undercut the methods they used to reach it. And as with the vast majority of expansionist empires, they're very much about cultural annihilation. Darius is very much a true believer in this philosophy, similar to The Operative from "Firefly"

Noxus isn't pure evil but... they are definitely not good guys. There's a lot of good things about Noxus, especially since Swain took over, but they are still cruel and ready to do anything to achieve their goals. No wonder they on good terms with Singed
@midnight1672 Жыл бұрын
The way I understand it Noxus is very much a "Might makes Right" kind of place. Maybe better than having to live under the yoke of a cruel ruler but also not necessarily a place you'd want to live in if I weren't strong. So, yeah absolutely agree, not evil but certainly not good either.
@FallenGranny Жыл бұрын
@@midnight1672 that was before Swain, after Swain its all about strength, which comes in many forms, even their government is based on the three principles of strength, Might (physical) Vision (mental) and Guile (social). Its a brutal meritocracy, where as long as you are a capable member of society you will find it very welcoming and appreciative of you, but once you get old or gravely injuired you will be shunned (unless you amass wealth during your time). They are far from the baddies of Runeterra, but they arent pure good either, depends your own morals for the most part
@vladerag Жыл бұрын
@@FallenGranny Well, it depends on _how_ you get injured or old. Someone who gets crippled in a heroic struggle that ends in victory will get a much different treatment than one that ends in defeat. Look at Sion - admittedly, he is more than a little twisted, but forget being crippled, he straight up was killed. Except, he died a legendary hero and so far from being discarded, he was resurrected.
@FallenGranny Жыл бұрын
@@vladerag also true, but either way, probably the most damning thing about Noxus is that they are very perfectionist, as in, i you make 1 mistake you will be mostly remembered just for that mistake, look at my boy Swain, he was an accomplished general for all his life, gets jebaited in Ionia once and loses everything basically (altho he is a special case as his shunning was very politically motivated)
@TheJamieellis Жыл бұрын
I mean that second part isn't really true. Even if you're old or injured, you can still be useful. A wizened General passing on his tactics in training the next generation will be welcomed greatly but also, the general populace are allowed to still just be average citizens. You work your job, you live your life and you can have a fine life. But Noxus is more that if you REALLY want a good life, be prepared to work hard for it and to excel to get it. It's not "Be strong or be killed" it's "Work hard and be rewarded"@@FallenGranny

Remember, Tales of Runeterra is a card game. The characters shown in these vids are usually on some of the cards. Obviously, the named characters like Garen and Darius are in both the card game and the main game. Also, it's never too late to watch Bridging the Rift 😉. I would also recommend the Tales of Runeterra vid "Breathe". It's a music video for the release of the game. There's no lore to it, it's just showcasing how some of the card battles can go.

One of riots true strength when writing characters is they know how to make there be very few characters that are just one-sided evil or one-sided good, many of them are written in ways that makes you torn between loving or hating them. The depth alot of the characters have is insane considering unless you go out of your way to find and read about it you would never know playing the games.

Jhin i would much more relate to urgot in that hes done evil things but has since been put into a slight grey area.

@@Zemilia22 From Lissandra's Lol page As the reclusive leader of the Frostguard, many believe Lissandra is a living saint whose followers bring healing and wisdom to the tribes of the Freljord. The truth is perhaps more sinister, as she uses her elemental magic to twist the power of True Ice into something dark and terrible, entombing or impaling any who would reveal her deepest secrets. Indeed, the legacy of her past may yet be the beginning of the end for Runeterra. From Shaco's page Crafted long ago as a plaything for a lonely prince, the enchanted marionette Shaco now delights in murder and mayhem. Corrupted by dark magic and the loss of his beloved charge, the once-kind puppet finds pleasure only in the misery of the poor souls he torments. He uses toys and simple tricks to deadly effect, finding the results of his bloody “games” hilarious-and for those who hear a dark chuckle in the dead of night, the Demon Jester may have marked them as his next plaything. And D.rMundo Utterly mad, tragically homicidal, and horrifyingly purple, Dr. Mundo is what keeps many of Zaun’s citizens indoors on particularly dark nights. Now a self-proclaimed physician, he was once a patient of Zaun’s most infamous asylum. After “curing” the entire staff, Dr. Mundo established his practice in the empty wards that once treated him and began mimicking the highly unethical procedures he had so often experienced himself. With a full cabinet of medicines and zero medical knowledge, he now makes himself more monstrous with each injection and terrifies the hapless “patients” who wander near his office. So we have Lissandra who is trying to twist the power of True ice, and kills anyone who tries to uncover her reason to do so(and may bring the end of Runeterra). Shaco a crazed killing doll who finds pleasure in tormenting others, and finds it hilarious. And Dr,Mundo who murdered a whole insane asylum ,and now roams the streets of Zaun trying to find "patients" to "cure" the same way as he cured the mental asylum workers. As for Jhin...come on...the dude murder' people because he considers it art, just because he doesn't find it evil it doesn't make any of his actions grey in the least nor did he ever had any remorse for doing(and continuing to do) so.
@TheJamieellis Жыл бұрын
Bruh the reason Lissandra is doing that is because she needs the power of True Ice to contain The Watchers, who want to end all of existence because it's noisy and loud and stopping them from sleeping in the void realm. Shaco has no lore in the universe, that's from his old bio that's no longer canon. And Dr. Mundo isn't choosing to be evil, he's not mentally all there. He's essentially a child playing doctor and doesn't realise he's not actually helping people. If Dr. Mundo is evil, so is every child who's ever threatened or hit someone. @@panagis630

Accents don't really matter in LoL when it comes to worldbuilding or in-universe lore. The different accents are just there for variety & diversity. (And by diversity, I meant both in a literal way & for inclusivity.) The only reason Fiora is French is because when she was first created many years ago, she was "The French Musketeer-Inspired Character" and that's it. [Spoiler for Viktor unless you don't care] Viktor has a Russian or Eastern European accent (idk lol someone correct me) is because when he was first created, they did the "Russian = Bad Guy" trope in American media even though according to the lore they wrote for him, he's not a bad guy. I know Piltover sees him as a bad guy but Riot keeps portraying him as one in his skins. Before LoL even gave Caitlyn all the character development she has now in both LoL & Legends Of Runeterra before Arcane, she used to be just "Sexy British Character". That is not Sejuani from The Call. That woman is just a random character. *Reminder for the Piltover & Zaun cinematic you'll watch next time:* Jayce & Viktor are not in it. Several newbie Arcane fans see that video and think the random kid is either of them. Please do not think this, too. I beg of you. He is just a random child.

If you're watching other arcane reactions, I recommend one of the most recent ones I watched, filmbuff. He really dissects very well each episode. About accents, some stories, like Riven's, say things like people recognizing her strong noxian accent. There was another one but I can't remember who's story it was, but was also a noxian accent haha. I think Shurimans have the most consistent accents. The girl from the call was Sejuani, she is the matriarch of the winter's claw, a brutal tribe that sees peace as a weakness, so is not the same girl from this video. And I doubt that baby is Jayce, since Jayce is Piltovian, and his family business is very old, even in his Arcane Lore (he mentions that his family made the hammers that people used to build the city). Also, some channels after reacting to arcane began diving deep into the lore and started doing "champion reviews/reactions", where they react to all the content from the universe webpage for one champion (sometimes also the wiki trivia or voicelines or LoR interactions), would be great to watch you explore the universe webpage or the interactive map. I have this Playlist assembled with the storyline of all Shadow Isles/Black Mist/Harrowing/Ruination related stuff, I tried to put the videos in a chronological order but I still may be wrong on some, but if you're interested you can check it out. kzbin.info/aero/PLWarQrhua-eaiMt3zho_DMZWEkyCvGZ8m The big dude in the awaken video is not an orc, he was a very large noxian human, died killing Jarvan the second (or the first, can't remember), and was later resurrected with blood magic, which made him even larger I think. The big guy in the noxus video, is actually a big guy from Zaun.

Demacia - The King is now Jarvan the 4th, son of Jarvan the 3rd. The whole story about Lux/Sylas/Garen is readable (as a comic book) freely on Runeterra's universe website. Freljord - Braum is a folk hero, no one really now his age. His shield is actually a door, and iirc, it was forged by Ornn, the Freljordian demi-God of Fire and Forge. You know Ornn, it's the Fury smith dude from "The Call". I recommend you check out his song, too, "Ornn, the fire below the mountain", and Volibear's, "The relentless Storm". Shadow Isles - About Thresh (the lantern dude), he's a great start to the "Thanos arc" of league of legends, a tale about life and death. It starts with "The Climb" > "Senna : Dark Passage" > "Senna : Shadow's Embrace" > "Ruined King : Announcement" > "Ruined King : Kingdom" > "Ruination" > "Gwen : Made with Love" > "Sentinels of Light : Before Dawn" > "Sentinels of Light Absolution", And you can finish with "Thresh unbound : A Night at the Inn" Noxus - As every kingdom in Runeterra, it's not black and white. Noxus is an expansionist empire, and though they hate tyrants, they still have some questionnable methods. Fun Fact, there is somewhere an official story about Darius spending some intimate time with a lady, and as I've heard, this man is a great man, in every aspect of his life.
@vladerag Жыл бұрын
I don't think Noxus hates tyrants, they just don't think them worthy of the title. If you are strong enough to take Noxus from Swain without ending up LeBlanc's puppet, if you can command Kled without getting a halberd in your face, if you can but the heel of your boot on the necks of the ambitious beneath you without losing your place - well, Noxus welcomes you to try. Noxus is all about strength, in whatever form it comes in. If your arm is strong enough, or your wit sharp enough, there is nothing you can't do.
