Synopsis
“The Orinoco is the very master of this. We are the ones who take land from it, for us to work”. These are Jesus Ojeda’s words, one of the men and women who have spent their entire lives farming on the lands that they have been given and taken away by the “Parent River”.
Every year, the harvest season is the most important and the most difficult time, for such a job like that of the “Veguero” (farmer), torn between the ancient submissiveness to nature which has been inherited from the Indians and the western thirst for the modern control.
“Vegueros” shows the conditions in which agriculture is developed in the very geographical center of Venezuela, on the banks of its main tributary, based on a daily effort that can only make proud those who really care about the primary production of a country.

Hola Germán, gracias por comentar. Soy Carlos Gómez, director del documental. En realidad opino diferente, si en algún sitio es necesario el combustible, es en las vegas del Orinoco y en las zonas rurales en general. Hoy por hoy (año 2024) en Venezuela el único lugar donde se consigue combustible con fluidez es en Caracas y en la zonas mineras ilegales.
