I bought a new '90 Chevy Suburban and, within a year, the paint was peeling. GM authorized a local body shop to completely strip the paint off the body and repaint it. Very nice job the body shop did. Pretty much all car makers suffered thru this.

Too bad you'll still have to paint it :-) I love one time I was calling a wrecking yard for a steering column for an old S 10 blazer, I needed a red one, the guy asked me what color I was looking for, I said beige. You can bet a red one would it cost me an extra 50 :-) he said all he had was red :-) I said it'll be better than nothing!

It's definitely a lot of work fixing this truck, but it'll be worth it when it's finished and you'll have a nice truck to keep ..... hopefully ..... if someone doesn't pry it out of your hands using a large amount of money as a pry-bar! You could probably protect the welding wire just as well by wrapping it around a couple of dowels. That would give you a better grip too. Just saw a foot off of the end of the Wandering Gnome's push broom handle. Just had a legit LOL. I used to have a '89 S-10 in blue and silver. It had to go back to the dealer for a complete repaint before it was six months old. The paint peeled off in SHEETS. Like the whole truck was sprayed with WD40 between the primer and the paint. Even then, the front corners of the box rails rusted completely through in less than a year. I asked about warrantying that and the dealer was really a-hole about it and I could tell I'd be without a truck for at least a month, so I let it rust.

In Georgia, a vehicle won't pass salvage rebuild inspection with any repaired understructure. If they can see worked metal it fails. You did this roof right which I fully expected.

I have what is left of a 1984 C-10 that was a beautiful shade of blue and the paint on the hood and the inside of the bed peeled of in pieces roughly the size of a kitchen towel. It is now a truck bed trailer

I ordered three sets of that primer masking system. Just really happy with the way it's working out. The ones I got did have some strange markings on them but didn't seem to affect the performance.

CGR McCR.. anit seize is a great way to get someone.. put some on a door handle and once they realize its everywhere.. and until they figure out the source it can be the gift that keeps on giving.
