Thank you, Sylvester Stallone for having a good ear for good music because you started with Bill Conti and Survivor was next, but if I had never been a Stallone fan I see I would’ve missed out on so many beautiful songs and this song here is a iconic classic. I remember when Chevrolet used it on a commercial some years back and I was still thinking that he was black. It took my dad saying Nikki that man ain’t black. I said he is I said listen to him he said how are you going to tell me the man is black when I am 27 years older than you and I introduced you to music your grandparents sing and everything. I don’t care what color he is it doesn’t make no difference what color he is. I love that song to my surprise. My dad had the Ides of March, and pointed to that song vehicle he didn’t say anything. He just pointed. My mouth dropped to the bottom of the ocean and the dredging crew had to pick it up but I love this song today is October 21, 2024. I am still listening to this song and will be to the day. I leave this world good job Jim P👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

@BeerHits8 жыл бұрын
Exactly, like this totally outstanding first class ACE song here "Vehicle"(and others). YES!! 60's &70's music had celebration and so much positive energy to it, is right!! So much feel good, love, and perfect harmony bursting at the seams!! BUT much of now of days modern music is sickening being poison for the soul with mostly destructive and totally disturbing negative energy to it, IS truth!! I cannot think of any absolutely more terribly worse crap music than Eminem, Drake, Kayne West, Arcade Fire, etc.
@mrhoffame8 жыл бұрын
BeerHits LOL Totally agree my friend. Somewhere in the early 90's (around 91-92) music became very dark. I mean there were always dark elements to music, but that dark element did not set the tone as it does today. It was simply a small by product of the music world. Two albums I say total changed us to "the dark side" lol was 1) NWA Straight Outta Compton and 2.) Nirvana Nevermind. Two of the greatest albums in history, but they were also the huge catalyst that started us down the road, mainstream road, of making us believing the darker side of our beings need to be expressed more so than the positive/celebration side.

I was 18 when this was out. Times were different then. I always drove hot rods. The song really did help to loosen up the girls a little. It was the time of free love and this song was just a part of it all. Fantastic tune btw.

Free love was never free, yo. However, there was no charge for the chlamydia. Lots of diseased pricks and cooches back in "the day". Probably why so many people in my generation ended up with Hep C, even though they never got Hep A or B, never did needles, or had unprotected sex. Thousands of Gen Xers with Hep C, they never knew they carried until adulthood in the early 90's when it fucking exploded. The reason: Their fucking sloppy-ass parents fuckin everything that moved in the late 60s and early 70s. Yea, you.

Surprising that this talented band couldn't produce another hit record... I recall the song very well, and I always liked it.

Yes, they were unfortunately a one hit wonder. The band wanted "Aire of Good Feeling" as their follow up single. But their record label wanted another "Vehicle" like song. Subsequently, "Superman" got released. Two of Jim Peterik's 70s solo demos, "Chi-Town Hustler" and "Teenage Machine Age" possibly would have made a better follow up to "Vehicle". However, they didn't get picked for his 1976 solo album and only got released on CD around 2003 on the expanded deluxe re-issue of his solo album that he released himself. Personally, I think the wrong songs were picked for his '76 solo album (His '06 solo album, Above the Storm, was much better. It even included a very Ides of March style song featuring their horn section, "Secrets of A Woman"). The best song on the '76 album was "Let There Be Song" which featured Dave Bickler on backing vocals. It was Peterik's first attempt at writing a power ballad. Except for "Let There Be Song" there were better songs ("Moving and Growing", Chi-Town Hustler", "Teenage Machine Age", "2000-year-old-man", Eight Bars At A Time", "Never Goin' Back to L.A.", etc.) that he recorded in the 70s that got released on that previously mentioned 40 song expanded CD version of his solo album. So, his solo album unfortunately bombed. He got sick while touring to promote the album (he opened for Heart and others). While in the hospital recovering, he came up with the idea of forming a band with Dave Bickler, the band Survivor. Survivor had 5 top 10 hits and 7 top 20. With "Eye of the Tiger" being their biggest hit. All co-written by Peterik. He also co-wrote the .38 Special songs "Hold on Loosely" and "Caught Up In You". Unfortunately, there was a lot of strife between Peterik and Sullivan in Survivor. Sullivan didn't really value Peterik's contribution to the band enough. So, Peterik got fed up and left Survivor on 7/4/96. Realizing it was just better to be in a band with people who are your long-time friends (The Ides of March). Technically, it was mostly just Frankie Sullivan that Peterik had an issue with. Peterik wrote/co-wrote all of the songs on the late Jimi Jamison's Crossroads Moments solo album. Both Jamison and Dave Bickler have been special guest performers on Peterik's World Stage concerts years ago. AXS TV aired one of them years ago that had Bickler and Jamison in it. The concert also featured .38 Special, Johnny Van Zant, Mickey Thomas, and Night Ranger (AXS edited out Ray Parker, Jr.'s performance to make the concert fit the available time slot)
