Taking My Highly Modified BMW E60 M5 To The Dyno To Prove That It's Not Slow

A ton of confused people in the comments. The E60 M5 makes 500HP to the CRANK from factory. We used a dyno to measure my M5's power at the WHEELS (Not crank). If you factor in drivetrain loss, my M5 is probably making around 550HP+ to the crank. Hope that clears things up.

Still gonna be slow as fuck tho. I eat e60 m5's with both my 2l turbo 718 cayman and even more with my rs3 8p (both tuned) it's literally not even a contest. All that noise but doesn't have the go to match it.

Sorry but I disagree I think it’s known to be the standard in the German big sedan for a while . There’s so many videos of ii, drag racing and doing pulls against a lot of other big German sedans. There’s so much coverage on KZbin of this platform , and here in la/lbc there’s actually quite a bit , a few of the reasons I became disinterested in getting one. I test drive one and was t impressed personally just too little torque and sounded like an infinity g35 from inside the cabin

criminally underrated? Its literally the most known fucking engine platfrom. When you ask any bimmer guy whats your favourite engine the first answer that comes up is "S85". A criminally underrated German big engine would be the 5.5 NA V8 in the early 2006-2012 Mercs, CL500,S500,CLS500, E500. They get absolutely no coverage when its one of if not the most bulletproof Merc NA V8 .

One thing I love about ur channel is that if I had the resources this would be exactly how i would build my cars.(currently making strides towards it)I love the fact that u retro mod u cars and bring them up to date tastefully. They aged so well naturally and pioneered most of the tech used in cars today. So it’s there but the entertainment system and gauge cluster make the car still feel modern while clean and the hidden features and information u can see is great too.

That looks about right for horsepower on his Alpha-N tuning. Infinity Design does increase your rev limit, and I was seeing 470rwhp / 335rwtq on mine (same intake / tune, stock exhaust) which tells me the headers and exhaust are helping your torque numbers. Good to see this car being well cared for!

If you really want to make a big difference to the M5s drivability, you need to do one of our RVS TriboCeramic T6A transmission treatments in it. Makes a huge difference, no more lurching when the trans gets hot and much smoother shifting. And yes, we had an S85 M6 test car we did extensive testing with :) Let us know if you want to try some, we'll gladly send you a treatment to try.

I'm almost done modifying my 550i e60-6speed manual. I say this is the sweet spot for the E60. It's not front heavy and gas guzzling as much as the V10 but it keeps a V8 naturally aspirated.

I own a BMW M6 V10, it had 545hp on the dyno after a tune up. When i installed a Straightpipe it dropped around 50hp, although it sounds phenomenal it lost power

Tell your mate with the 335d to take of the pod filter, you lose 20hp. Have seen back to back dyno pulls with a pod filter and stock. Its not that it flows worse, it just disrupts the maf reading. The alternative is to get the maf tuned off (they have a map sensor). Stock uses a blend of both but you can convert to fully map at the cost of some economy.

For the people talking about 478 to the wheel do you realise that RWD has around 25 28% loss from crank to the wheels? Which in simple math means this 15 year old car pushes with mods tho almost 590 on the engine at worst.
