I passed my exam a year ago, I got a car very quickly, I started to drive regularly - and I still have problems with the basics. Embarrassing. It's all fine when I don't think about shifting gears or focusing on stalling. But when I'm too focused on it, I simply can't drive. Because I have an anxiety disorder, being calm while driving, and not thinking about transmission, is something complicated to manage for me. Sometimes I'm so stressed that I'm shaking and even don't hear the radio/music, and I'm just paranoid that I would stall or do something crazy. I thought about giving up and selling my car, but I really would like to master it. It's funny, I really do like cars and driving, I always have fun on parking lots - I like to play with steering wheel when on tiny and tight places. But when I'm on the streets, my stress level is so high that I'm stalling my car very often and can't drive smoothly without wrenching. :/

@@CT-sc3kb of course I'll respond, always glad to help a new driver. When you shift, up or down, it's always best to release the clutch in the span of a second. It would go clutch in, shift, start releasing the clutch and time it so that it takes about a second to fully release. This also goes for downshift, but for downshift, this 1 second release is usually paired with giving it gas to Rev match

That, and playing simulators with a steering wheel, clutch and H--shifter. Oh boy!! I knew real life would be different, but I was not ready for it. Stalled it twice during my test drive. Came back to watch this video (and others) and I picked up my Camaro today. It helped SO much!! I drove 40 minutes back home, did not stalled it once, and by the time I got here, I was not lurching anymore. I still need practice, but following this tutorial took off at least a couple days of suffering. I will never buy an automatic again. Save the manual!!!

In Europe here you,re not allowed to drive a manual with an automatic drivers license. Thats why most people take lessons in a manual car, a small percentage will not be able to control a manual and go for their automatic license. More than 90% will do their drivers test in a manual, and you,re allowed to drive an automatic too. The insurance company will kick you out if you,re driving a manual with an automatic license. If you make an accident with a manual then you have to pay everything.

And the little open differentials would spin one tire and it would go. This worked for about 3 weeks until I burnt up my clutch. Then I started trying to do it properly since then. About a week later I felt like a pro. I’ve always owned Mitsubishi Lancers, evos and GTS mostly. And people have told me they’re not easy to learn on. In the time that we are now living in cars that have a manual transmission are becoming rare. You rarely see a car on the road today with a manual transmission. Since I am 72 years old I grew up as a child at a time when manual transmission cars were very common. In the 1950s and 1960s one common transmission was the three speed column shift transmission. My parents 1956 Chevrolet had a three speed column shift. I learned how to drive a manual transmission on a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle that had a 4 speed floor shift. My first car was a 1977 Datsun B210 that had a 4 speed manual floor shift. Since automatic transmissions have improved a lot over the years, automatic transmissions have mostly replaced manual transmission. Today a number of makes of cars are only sold with an automatic transmission.

You slowly release the clutch pedal while applying a little of gas. Once the car starts to move hold the clutch right there (that's your bite point) once the car is moving, slowly release the clutch. If you don't hold the clutch at your bite point for a couple of seconds you will stall every single time.

The clutch connects the engine to the wheels. It helps to have your heel resting on the floor so the car jerking forward doesn't engage more clutch prematurely. Always feel free to skip gears when shifting. With more powerful engines, it's common to go from 1st to 3rd, or 1st to 4th for normal driving conditions.

@@TheAbhorrent1 I like to thank you for the tip, I’ve been driving around for awhile and I have stalled yet, and I try it to get embarrassed if I do, I go smoothly when I go to first gear and the reverse is smooth as butter
@TheAbhorrent15 ай бұрын
@codyyazzie3135 all part of the process. I've stalled time and time again and sometimes at a light where I'm in front and I caused everyone to miss the light lol. After 6 months to a year it'll be way better. It's been 8 months for me and it's been awhile since I've stalled but it happens from time to time

I love driving my manual car. The only thing while driving in traffic is that the car behind you gets impatient while you take off on first and they take off t the same time tailgating you

Jesus Christ is the only hope in this world no other gods will lead you to heaven There is no security or hope with out Jesus Christ in this world come and repent of all sins today Today is the day of salvation come to the loving savior Today repent and do not go to hell Come to Jesus Christ today Jesus Christ is only way to heaven Repent and follow him today seek his heart Jesus Christ can fill the emptiness he can fill the void Heaven and hell is real cone to the loving savior today Today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late come to the loving savior today Holy Spirit Can give you peace guidance and purpose and the Lord will John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Jesus

Liked your explanation of how to drive manual. Also liked your Emira car. Can you help me find one or know of someone who has 1? Looking for bright red black interior with very low mileage or brand new. Where did you get yourse?

European drivers will find this funny as its so normal to us it’s like an instructional on how to walk or how to use a knife and fork. Just a cultural thing.

yes, it's very weird, but we have the reverse problem (but now it's more usual drive an AT here)

I have been Europe, everyone is not driving manual cars. Not even close.
@nealadsett84848 ай бұрын
@@malcolmn.5222 a vast majority of Europeans drive manual. You’re correct not all do. Most learn in manual and most drive smaller manual cars in the early formative driving years. Some move on to larger automatic cars. But your are right, these are generalisations and there are obviously exceptions.

how will europeans find this funny when everyone has to learn how to drive manual? lol. yall hard to learn too.

@@malcolmn.5222Last year in 2023 almost 27% of the new cars in the Netherlands in Europe was an automatic. With 2nd hand cars it will improve a bit more lets say 33%. 67% will be a manual at all. Its still growing every year especally with all the electric cars. The manual will slowly dissapear here too, but more than 90% of drivers can handle a manual at all Vans are more than 80% manuals here, Mercedes Sprinter is the leading Van with the most automatic cars.

You read my mind. Nowadays, lots of cars have an option for sport and manual. You know the ones with shifting paddles or a button on the stick. They have an electrical clutch thingymibob and I've be curious if I'm doing it wrong (2016 ford focus SE, the eletrical clutch sensor thingy went out, $3000 dollars went in) but based on this video, I've got the rpms right. Hopefully it's just a ford thing, or maybe I can learn something from the community!

I ordered an Emira and hoping to receive it by December. I have not driven a manual since my S2000 back in 2003 (20 years)! I am wondering if I should have spec-ed the automatic... LOL.
