I like that you did a review on this model year. I just bought an exl trim of this model last week with only 30,000 miles on it. It feels brand new and I was going to buy new but there is just none out there in my area to order in the time frame I needed a vehicle. This is a great option for used car buyers!

Thanks for giving real thoughts on this year model. I'm aiming for a used 2016 Honda Odysse with 50k miles, and amid the craziness of mark-up prices and chip shortages, this Minivan stands out!

PSA: The 2016 Odysseys have VCM systems on the engines (shuts down half the cylinders when going into ECO mode) that has caused a lot of problems, including serious engine damage. The good news? Using good quality gasoline (with detergents and things like Techron) and doing regular oil changes will reduce the chance of engine damage and there is a inexpensive and easy DIY fix that disables the VCM for $100-$200. I disabled the VCM on my 47K miles 2016 SE recently (the version I got is legal in all states), changed the plugs (which can get fouled by the issue) and I'm hoping I avoided any problems. The ECO didn't save much gas anyway and the engine runs a lot smoother now that all six cylinders stay active. Hope this helps anyone who owns or is looking to own on of these.

Our 2018 Honda Odyssey has cost us more in maintenance (70k miles) than our 1997 Dodge Diesel truck (270K miles) and our 2003 VW Jetta TDI (200k miles) combined. Present problem is warping rotors causing vibrations when the brakes are used.

5th gen has a lot of problems. No longer has rear AC, and uses new r1234yf refrigerant (bad). I just bought a 2016 touring elite in white. 41k miles.

Just bought a 2016 Odyssey. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles or twinkly lights, but it is loaded. Very high mileage, 113k, but holy cow, the previous owner took excellent care of it. The only thing wrong is the two armrests on the front doors. They have been used with ferocious arm resting. Nothing that I can’t fix. Probably will do that this weekend. I need to check if it’s got that, Honda-Vac, feature.

How much did you pay? Local one posted for $14.5k elite model with same amount of miles.
@jebbohanan26263 ай бұрын
@@boy74 That was during the time where manufacturers were having an extremely hard time getting computer chips to complete their vehicles…all because the supply chain was screwed up by COVID. We paid $17,600…. About a year after that, the timing belt needed replacing. After finding out how much it would cost, I traded it in for a much newer model still an Odyssey with a much better warranty.

It looks like the Odyssey has several features that passed from one generation to the next. Any idea if 2023 will bring any changes?
@VehicleVisionary3 жыл бұрын
2023 is supposed to bring an anticipated refresh for the Odyssey. Honda will roll out several refreshed models for the 2022 model year so it would make sense that 2023 will bring the same for the Odyssey since 2022 did not.

I have one. Dealer maintained. Bought brand new. Has 70k miles. Already had to do oil pump and timing chain. Not happy with honda

At what mileage is the timing chain supposed to be replaced? I thought chains were permanent and only timing belts are to be replaced.
