This is the soundtrack of the Day of the Lord, the day when He returns, the day when every knee shall bow, the day when we will all rest in the arms of all those who have gone before us, nevermore to grieve.

Lee, "The Day of the Lord". Wouldn't that be funny if that was a movie title and that hymn was the opening theme song to it?

There is nothing like a true pipe organ and an organist who knows how to bring it to life

Very true! I grew up going to a Cathedral in Southern California and the organ there was incredible! I never realized it was one of the largest organs in the world with over 16,000 pipes. I miss going there sometimes. I’ve never heard any other organ sound close to that one. The church itself is a completely different church but the organ is still there.☺️

Awesome God our mighty fortress Praise God for the beautiful rendition of the song. Praise God for the musicians. Praise His Holy Name The only living and prayer answering God. If only all the people of the earth come to know Him, how blessed it would be.

This is America’s number one hymn. Apart from the sound and the organ’s influence, the wordings ..... words failed me to describe it. That word MAJESTIC comes to mind. Any time I hear the hymn, that majestic feeling always fill me up.

Last weekend I was part of the "practice congregation" for a master class for organ students, since playing with and for a choir and congregation adds a whole new dimension beyond playing solo. Our organist, who lead the workshop, would wholeheartedly applaud the organ playing here, including that majestic introduction. Nicely done!

Yes one of our great composers.But he could not reform the church.He divided the church in Europe,especially in Germany.This division led to one of the most terrible wars in Germany.One third of the people died ,and Germany feld behind France an Great Britain.GermanChurch is divided until today.A big hinderance for mission.

No affiliation with Manchester United, the famous football club, I'm guessing? ;-)(It's just that the way it's written in the caption, one would be forgiven for reading it that way.)Although, I suppose, it WOULD do those lads a power of good to sing this every now and again.

Whats wrong with using just the hymnal? Why do you need the slide show?
@chuckschafer9426 жыл бұрын
when you have 1500 people you need that
@garrygrabow831 Жыл бұрын
With the hymnal you also get the music and the bigger context of all the text. There are two versions of the hymn tune (rhythmic and isometric), and many different texts. With a well-known hymn like this music isn’t necessary, but to fully use the great hymnody of the church, having a hymnal with the musical notation cannot be beat. Screens also detract from sacred spaces in my opinion - I don’t really want to feel like I am at a conference.

Unfortunately the organist does all sorts of silly and completely unnecessary and distractive additions to an otherwise glorious hymn.
@georgefieldsjr.6408 ай бұрын
Nothing against the organist, but all the long introduction and interlude is really not needed 😂😅
@Jack-eo5fn5 ай бұрын
It’s called “ornamentation” and it’s very popular and respected in the theatre of musicality today. Singing 4 verses of 3 long hymns every Sunday can be tedious and the congregation loses interest in what they’re singing. Ornamentation is a way of dressing up one hymn each week as a way of uplifting the entire service.
