It was great finding this video! I have cracked so much velum I just gave up. Using thicker vellum is contrary to what one would think would work best. Sooo glad you shared this. I’m all for putting our heads together to find solutions and ideas ! And adhering vellum is always a challenge which J. McGuire solved by using whole sheet adhesive for a particular look.

I loved this video! I love that you took some of the suggestions and let us know your results. I never get good results with embossing vellum, but I may try some of the tips that didn't work for you because I think I have a slighter heavier-weight vellum, so I may get better results. Thanks! And yes, crowd sourcing is cool, even though my fingers kept typing crows. (I’m watching crows on our deck right now. In general, GSM is they key for paper weight rather than lbs. Ex: Two cardstocks that say 80 pounds can actually be quite different weights (lbs.), depending on if it’s cover vs. text weight and other factors.

I emboss on thinner vellum without cracking but I needed to adjust the pressure I was getting with my plate sandwich. Also, I found that I had to have different pressures with the 2D or 3D folders.

Oh wow. That is so much. I would maybe look for a really heavyweight vellum. The one I used is 167GSM. I hope that helps and you can find one that works.

Have you ever tried craftelier? Maybe they have some heavy weight vellum... they have lots of not that expensive crafting supplies and they ship from Spain. I order from Germany and the shipping is cheap or free, depending on the money you spend. Some prices in Germany are crazy too.
