A very interesting project. Challenging, but good fun don't you think ? For me, it will be another piece of biking history saved from the scrap yard. Just like my AJS/ Matchless ( 1950 ) project. Best wishes and look forward to seeing the results. Thanks a lot. Colin 🇬🇧

Hopefully I can do a decent enough job. Won't be perfect but it should be an honest running bike at the end I hope!

@@asciimation I'm sure it will be a good bike. Your attention to detail is excellent. I've got a 1954 Austin Somerset and a 67 Morris minor. Both are running well and get used. Just great fun for this ex electrician who loves the nuts and bolts ! It all started around the late 50's before I left school. The Riley is coming on great isn't it?

You now enter the new world of cycle thread. Try the local British cycle dealers here as they carry them and other consumables. The old owners manuals have the nice exploded diagrams with the part numbers as these are used still today when ordering Velocette Parts

LE threads are BSF and BA there are a few BSB threads for the some tooling. Amal do use some Model Engineer Threads, 32 or 40 T.P.I. for cable adjusters. The spoke thread is the standard British BA screw thread system with 32 T.P.I.

Well, now I know more about a Velocette than I ever thought I would. I think I may have worked on that at some point because I recognize the odd ball washers and miss matched bolts. :D Cheers

You know as much as me! I guess while the body is off being blasted I can try to get the engine/gearbox and drive off the frame. And get the wheels and tyres off as well. Needs new tyres (and tubes and rim bands). Wheels look good, bit of surface rust but that's easy to deal to.
