Not at all. We realize the ratings we give perfectly resemble a collegiate grading system, but we advocate all our viewers check out anything that we give above 76. Even the albums we rate in the 60s still have many positive attributes that many will fall in love with. While we use numbers to convey a point, the real value in a music review is the discussion of the opinion; it's about getting into new music and expressing new ideas.

100% a great album. Who wants every album to sound the same!

It's definitely growing on me more and more with each listen. Personally, my favorite Deerhunter album is 'Weird Era Cont'. Once I got word that 'Monomania' was going to be their "most avant garde album yet", I went into my first listen expecting it to be alot like weird era, and I think that's what ruined the first couple listens for me. I'm a huge Deerhunter/Atlas Sound fan, and even though this album has been growing, it's still unfortunately my least favorite Deerhunter album.

I'm digging this more on every listen but it took me like three spins to start enjoying it though, to me its not very inviting at first plus they dropped the ambient element on this one but it'll most likely be on my top 20 list by the end of the year. And it kind of reminds me Turn It Up Fagget with some Black Lips influence.

My first listen I honestly did not like this album at all first couple listens but around the 5 listen something just clicked and now I would defiantly consider this my favorite album of 2013. I personally think this is better than Halcyon Digest, I loved it. Awesome review!

Good review guys, but you forgot to mention 'Lotus Plaza' thats Lockett Pundt's solo project, he is the lead guitarist of Deerhunter. anyways solid album 8/10 for me. Deerhunter revisit 'Turn it up Faggot' and 'Cryptograms' sound on this album.

Cox’s voice is supposed to sound sorta samey, he’s going for that old school rock swagger like some Lou Reed or the Kinks throwback.

I very much liked this album, though it could have ended after the title track and I would've been happy. I still like Halcyon and Microcastle better, but I'll put this one above Cryptograms (though I love all of them, really).

Just not enjoying his voice in this album. That's my only issue
