Looks like a good IFR platform………..as long as you stay out of icing ! Great camera angles.

What a great video, thank you for posting. I am at the tail end of a Velocity XL RG build and cannot wait to post videos like this. Its nice seeing IFR video in soup for real world experience.

You were working that stick on landing. Looked intense trying to keep on glide slope.

Nice vid. Thanks for posting Kent. Makes me a better IFR to see others do it out of O69. Fast landing! I guess that's the Velocity.

That was very interesting, felt like I was there with ya. Give me a good idea of what I need to learn to get a license. Just getting into the process. Great video 👍✌

Thanks! Lately I have been obsessed with canard aircraft. I am hoping to find an honest pro/con comparison of the Velocity, Cozy, and Long EZ. Thanks again!

I enjoyed your video. I'm not a pilot, and enjoyed viewing what it's like to fly with low (sometimes NO) visibility.

Flying in the low viz grey stuff, intense. Do light aircraft always wallow a little like that final approach runway landing, irksome.

Am getting ready to order an XL5 with a TSIO550-B engine and G3x panel. Yours seemed pretty solid in IMC. Is the plane stable in turbulence? Is there good aileron authority, I noticed you moving left and right on the stick but the plane not immediately moving left and right...
@infotechsailor5 жыл бұрын
Looks like you came in a little fast and low but maybe it was gusty which means less flaps and fast approach usually so prolly why you bounced on landing. Brave IMC flight nice job
@jameshauser15075 жыл бұрын
The Velocity does not have flaps.

hey kent quick question when you were advising ATC you were going to be a little high on the glideslope and ATC was worried about spacing, why not pull a little power off and lose some airspeed? PS you can only count one of those landings....lol...just kidding, nice job staying ahead of the aircraft!
@jameshauser15075 жыл бұрын
Kent did you build this Velocity? It is definitely a good looker.

Looks like you could use a left com button or a left stick with button so you don't have to let go of it. Not so good design. Does that plane have fully retractable gear or just the nose wheel?

Hi Kent - I've always loved how the Velocity looks. Being an owner of one, how do you like the way it flies? Pros? Cons?
@kentfarneytomsawyer77115 жыл бұрын
Love flying the Velocity. Fast, efficient, comfortable, and stable it has great visibility esp with the prop in back. Only con is high landing speed of 80-90 knots and needs hard surface of >2500feet.
@joecritch1435 жыл бұрын
kent farney 2500 feet seems excessive. What is the stall speed?
@gbigsangle30443 жыл бұрын
@@kentfarneytomsawyer7711 Cirrus SR22Ts are over the numbers at 80kts too (power in). And they need real runways too. You get use to it.

Don't know when they switched to PAPI lights and have not been able to find out. Single row 2 red 2 white for glide slop. He was good for most of the time then went low. Every other landing I have seen on yt did the same thing. I guess all VASI lights (2 rows of red and green lights) have been replaced by PAPI.
