Velocity® Non-Walk-In Heavy-Duty Rescue - James City County Fire Department, VA

Take a walk around James City Bruton Volunteer Fire Department’s Velocity Non Walk-In Heavy-Duty Rescue. This apparatus is replacing their current rescue in service, designed for structure fire support on the driver’s side and vehicle extrication on the passenger side. Every truck for the department is built the same when it comes to the chassis section, including the front bumper. As soon as you enter the truck, scene lighting comes on. Also added in the cab are vinyl seats to provide an easier wipe down after a call and a wraparound panel controlling items such as the PTO generator. In the rear of the cab, there is storage space for various rescue equipment, including a designated gasoline compartment for equipment such as chainsaws.

Bitter sweet to hear that old Squad 1 has seen it’s day! Im sure a bunch will miss the Peterbilt walk in, but are excited for the amazing features built by Pierce. Glad JCBVFD has gotten updated and that Chief Ashe sees the value and roll the “Toanoanimals” play in JCC community! I use to volunteer at JCBVFD before moving to CA, and miss those guys. Truly a one in a kind department that deserves the state of the art rigs! STAY SAFE STATION 1!!!

I’m always amazed at some of these departments, why? Because I’d be curious how man fires and accidents they respond. Yes, we’ll respond every second, hour, day, what’s bothering me, is the volunteer part. Now I’m not saying they don’t need new trucks, engines, and stuff, I’m saying I wish departments would pay their volunteers. I see so many departments get things that FDNY doesn’t even have. Now I’m not sure what’s wrong with the old truck, and maybe it’s always in the shop. But seriously, when you see trucks like this, they’re not cheap. Maybe they got some grants, or federal aid, but it’s a lot of money if your only running 100 calls a year, and 60 of them are 🔥. Some towns can’t even buy turnout gear for their people, and I wish federal aid, and grants could/would help them out, and pay for training!

Terrakx FB we decided to move the outside seats inward to stop air pack regs from getting caught in the door. We lost one seat.

@@millfarmchristmastreeandsm9800 in germany a cab of that size would seat nine people with weiter 2 or 4 people having air pack in the cab, however you should concider that in a german fire engine the Crew sits above the engine instead of around so There is much more room in the same sized cabin
