Is v1 taken to be the velocity in the suction pipe? Is v1 & v2 mostly the same velocity?

bro, generally in problems, direction of blade velocity is not given, how will u draw the triangle in such case?

We derives the formulas by assuming a direction of rotation of impeller ...That formulas will help u to solve problems but its important to assume direction of rotation of impeller to draw velocity triangle and derive important formulas....

Nice explanation Just one doubt, how did we know that direction of V2 is towards the left, why not right (along the blade)?

Direction of V2 is towards left because...You see that impeller is rotating in ACW direction so water will leave the impeller from that side outwardly....If impeller would rotating CW direction could be towards right side...But our Delivery pipe is Right side so for delivering water to delivery pipe we have to rotate it in ACW direction. And we need to increase its pressure...and pressure of water increases by flowing from increasing area...so water have to flow from Low Diamter(Inlet) ...To Hight diameter(Outlet) Hope your doubt cleared now..🙏
