It's weird seeing a McLeod in a Vantage. That's the same basic clutch I have in my LT4 swapped car.

I distinctly remember that car having a super high take-up when I drove it back in 2011 or 12. Enough so I was worried it was how all of them drove and was relieved when I test drove mine that it wasn’t normal. 99% sure it’s the setup and original that caused the high take-up since it was there new. My best try to recall is that they used a Mustang clutch to try and hold the power. If I can be of help, let me know and I’ll share as much of the history as I can remember of when it got that kit.

Thanks very much for reaching out. We've changed the clutch for a new one, and adjusted the spacing on the bearing to alter the pickup point a little lower in the pedal!

Amazing project, great posts! Was wandering, what is the reason you went with the McLeod LS clutch and "special machined" flywheel over your (or AMR) twin plate clutch kit? It was my understanding the AMR twin set up, or your VAP version of it, are well capable for the power upgrade. Could you share details of the McLeod set up? Thanks!

So, this is not a VAP-origin kit/build. We were offered this car in a semi-disassembled state, but the kit & parts were already designed. This car is making significantly more power & torque than an OEM V12V, for which the twin plate kit was originally designed and the clutch that is fitted to it should be able to hold a lot more torque. So we chose to stick with what had already been proven & designed for this specific application.
