Nice HW solution. I love it. BTW: A momentary switch can be achieved in software at a cheaper cost. ie: Grab a Sonoff Dual R3, install Tasmota and you can use the relay directly to control the 2 switches. The whole setup costs around half (~15$)

Hi, many thanks! Great solution you have also suggested. My aim was to show a simple way that someone with very minimal electronic skill and resources could put this together at a relative cheap cost. It's one of the things i love about electronics, there are so many different ways to achieve the same result!

hi there; i want to make the same. setup sonoff dual R3 with velux remote, but could you show a wiring diagram?

Very good solution. If you had a double relay board could you not setup ewee app to give 0.5 second on each and do away with capacitors and resistors?

Hi, yes all valid points. I was trying to keep this very simple with a ‘one star’ electronic skill level and stuff you may have lying around or can obtain without too much difficulty. That’s what I love about electronics, same solution but so many different ways of doing it!👍

This is funny. I did a really similar mod to a slightly newer version of this remote a few months ago without seeing this video. I use an microcontroller (ESP8266) to pull the pads high or low to press the button. I power and close the curcit trough the microcotroller. This should be save as the microcontroller runs on 3.3 volts.

Thanks great video. Can you write down the part list?
@LarryJackpot2 жыл бұрын
Hi Amir, many thanks! The parts used will vary depending on the relay you can source as the resistance of the relay coil will determine the value of the resistor and capacitor used. The values i used are shown at 8:57 in the video based on a small 12v/1A relay that i had in my workshop. You can use pretty much any small 12v relay you can get. The wi-fi controller is from eBay - DC 5V-12V WiFi Wireless Smart Switch Relay Module Smart Home Phone APP www.ebay.com.au/itm/232418638648 - there are many of these available from several retailers.

So what was your solution to hiding the wiring and rest of kit?
@LarryJackpot3 жыл бұрын
As i had a spare second controller i put it all in a small electronic jiffy box with a small 12v power supply and it sits in a cupboard connected to a power point about 10m away from the skylight. No one can see it or knows it is there. I still have my original Velux controller mounted on the wall near the kitchen as a back-up & just for added convenience. If you are using your original controller and you can get a 12v cable down the wall cavity you could mount the controller in the wall cavity and the Velux panel neatly mounted on the wall.

you did not provide any info on the parts. at least given the part numbers or part type
@LarryJackpot3 жыл бұрын
Hi, at 8 min 55 seconds there is a circuit showing the values of the components. There are no specific part numbers for the components as it is just general basic stuff i had lying around. The relays are 12V 10A single pole double throw which are way over-rated for this but the smallest i had - but you could use pretty much anything you have even a small PCB micro relay would do as you are just using the contact to trigger a switch and no current.

Or just get a second hand google home and get alexa to tell it to open the windows. Half the price and works out the box.
