I know it's fiction but my heart breaks for the Karabey brothers...they play so good, especially Baris. Poor Cihan. Imagine being forbidden to celebrate your birthday+ being guilt tripped by your loved ones. He really grew up thinking that he doesn't deserve to be happy on that day just because his mother happened to die then. He probably feels guilty to even think of celebrating it and grew up thinking he doesn't deserve happiness and celebration on that day. What a shitty, selfish family, only focused on revenge, unable to forgive and move on, and think of what impact their shitty behavior had on that child. They really robbed him from being happy, feeling seen and loved and made him feel like he doesn't deserve to celebrate it, for years. Why Rob a child of that happiness? The fact that his mom died was hard on everyone. They really could have turned this, in a sensible, loving day for everyone. They could have had a nice meal together to celebrate his b-day and make him feel loved, seen and cared for, despite the tragedy, then they could have talked about the happy memories they had as a family, for closure, visit the graveyard in her memory and pray togheter.

You can do both- mourn in the morning but joy in the evening. He had to bark at Dilan first and look stupid for him to understand he was completely wrong and have been all these years.
