Jacob and I spent the afternoon of July 13, 2018 fishing Venice on a falling tide and catching 42 bass and 2 reds. We fished downriver and caught everything on watermelon red baby brush hogs dipped in chartreuse dye.

Is that a Skeet Reese Heavy Cover Rod, sure looks like the ones I have...great trip, not many days like that...

Al Perry that is a skeet Reese flipping stick. It may be called a heavy cover rod too. It’s a wright&McGill rod if I’m not mistaken. It has been great. I have snatched things out of those canes that would’ve broken just about any other rod and it just keeps going. So rare to find a relatively inexpensive rod that performs so well.

I totally agree, I have owned at least 5 of them over the past 5 or 6 years, no other rod has the backbone that baby does...for punching, I need something like a 2 x 4 and that rod does the trick...oh, I am down to 2 of them now, sold the others...BTW, you don't know what you are missing if you have not balanced the rod...I have added 2 to 3 ounces of weight in the butt end of the rod, strange how adding weight can actually make the rod feel lighter but it does...

What part of Louisiana do you fish if you don’t mind me asking?

Aaron Hebert really all over south Louisiana but mostly Atchafalaya basin, lake verret, bayou black, Delacroix, lake cataoutche, des Allemands, Venice, but also Okhissa lake in MS. Other places too but those the most.
