Wow, many places have volunteers only or they back up paid paramedics etc….and without them we would not have anyone. Physical fitness does not go by body shape, plenty of skinny people who couldn’t walk a couple miles or have any endurance. What you said is outdated and callous. Even the army will go by tape measuring and fitness not by stringent size. I know someone who is very physically fit, in psych ops but has to be measured as he doesn’t fit the standards.

Imagine that was your loved one and you saw the poor reaction and response time from both PD and Paramedics. I understand PD doesn’t want to do the medical work in the meantime, but it’s a poor look on their department having a civilian doing all the work. No firefighter/medic should ever be that out of shape. You like how he didn’t even bother to put his gloves on during his previous walk to the incident? He was not trying to speak, he was already gone. Did you see how his entire head was blue? That's called cyanosis. From personal experience seeing that happen to my husband... it was already too late. They turned him on his side just in case he had fluid in his lungs and were trying what they could to get...anything. As they explained to me, after they tried to revive my husband after 30 full minutes, it's likely he had a sudden cardiac arrest - his heart stopped. It may have been a heart attack or a lung clot or something similar. My husband had a lung clot. They said it was a "massive" event and it was highly unlikely he would have survived , no matter what they did for him. That's kind of what this poor man looked like, too. Again, personal experience doing CPR on my husband for 10 minutes before the paramedics arrived. He was pale and no responsive, then progressively turned blue because he had no oxygen.

I will also tell you, that I want to know why, when anyone is dealing with a person who may have drowned are they not placed on their bellies, with their face to the side, then the legs lifted so any water in the lungs can come out just by using that technique? I have been a first responder and certified 3 times and each time we did the old method. That is how you would treat a baby to an elderly person; except with the baby you may be able to just pick them up while holding the heard in your hand, while their body is in a downward position! This makes me sad and just leaves me shaking my head! You can't start someone's heart if they have both lungs full of water; there is no room in the chest wall for the heart to move; and especially if they also have the water in their stomach. It is a recipe for disaster!

What do you mean by “truly repent of your sins?” Repentance in the Greek means “metanoia” which is a change of mind. God repented in Joel 3. Turning from sin, stopping a sin/habit, quitting a sinful lifestyle is NOT a requirement for salvation. That is adding works to the Gospel. The only requirement is to believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and to trust in Him alone for the gift of eternal life. Turning from sin comes through discipleship and intentional effort to live a sanctified life for the Lord. The ungodly are without strength and are unable to be godly in their own flesh. Godliness is only possible through walking in the Spirit which comes AFTER a person has trusted Christ alone.
